Ebay question - Do you have to have a store to have categories?

I've been thinking about putting different things on Ebay and I notice a lot of sellers have different categories on the left side so only have to look at the type of stuff you want to. Sometimes it's obviously a store to me but other times it seems like it's just a regular seller doing it. Obviously a much better way of organizing.

Do I have to have a store to do this?
