OT - American Idol

My cousin made it to the final round of American Idol tonight, Ben Briley. He is from Gallatin, TN. If you get a chance, watch him perform next week. He is a good ole country boy that has truly been blessed. Harry Connick nick-named him Gumbo.

My Aunt and Uncle are on cloud 9. He called my Aunt the Taylor Swift if the 70s in an earlier interview. Haha.


And vote if that option is available. I don't know the format for the final 13.

David ... that's AWESOME. I have not watched that show in a LONG time ... but tonight, while on the treadmill at the gym, I watched the entire show. Which one is he? What does he look like? BEST OF LUCK TO HIM. Looks like I am going to have to make a few phone calls for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys. I haven't watched the show since Carrie Underwood was in the finals.

Our family is very excited for him. His mom comes from a large family of 11 kids - (6 girls and 5 boys). Our Christmas and 4th of July reunions are always a blast. Out of the 11 families, all but one are within 50 miles of each other. The distance helps us all stay close (literally).

I love Nashville.......my beautiful daughter goes to a music camp there in the summer. She is into writing music. Great city and may end up there.

I've been watching AI since it started. So, yes - I've seen Ben.

And yes - he's a great singer! I like all the country guys - also the ones from Alabama.

Ben was one of the "top 10" voted in from the group of 30 and not a wildcard. They don't let ya know where they ultimately fell - but being in the final 10 is incredible!

I think the men sang better than the women this week. Some of my favorite men are in the top 13!

I remember seeing your cousin on the audition and his voice reminding me of the song "Man of Constant Sorrow," from O' Brother Where Art Thou. Talented young man.
