Delivery issues: Ebay auction

According to tracking information, yesterday my mail carrier delivered 3 boxes to my house. When I got home there were only 2 boxes on my porch. I live in a rural area and have never had a problem with packages being delivered while I was not home. Depending on whick mail carrier is working, packages are either left on the porch or on the hood of whichever vehicle is in the driveway. This time they were on the porch and were hard to see from the road. I wouldn't think that someone would come on my porch and just take one box. I haven't had a chance to speak with anyone with the post office yet. Since the package shows as being delivered, do I have any recourse? This is a $200 loss if I don't.
Thanks, James

  • no you do not have any recourse . I would for sure ask your postal worker and go down to the post office and have them open a trace. I would not bothering calling you, since USPS does not search for any lost package.

Yep. I can almost always tell which person worked that day. I have a drive through driveway. The female worker will drive through and leave the package on the hood of my truck or SUV or at the top step on my porch. She only has to take about 2 or 3 steps from her Jeep to my vehicle. The male worker will park out by the street and will carry the package up onto the porch. I have had a couple packages that the female worker delivered get wet because it started raining after she left the package but luckily none of the contents have been wet YET.

You should get down to the post office and raise hell with the postmaster, and threaten to go over his/her head if they don't take action about leaving packages on the hood of your car! I once had a substitute carrier leave a package of X-rays being returned from another clinic for a second opinion on the FRONT LAWN of my clinic. I pitched a fit and the carrier was reprimanded.
