I've seen posts over the years about the prices for private signings and how they've increased but I just had one knock my socks off. I guess maybe I'm naive but I have a Derek Jeter final Yankee stadium season jersey (not game used or anything) and I saw that Steiner was having a private signing. I inquired as to the price (as it was conveniently not listed on the website) and was told the signing fee would be $600. I inquired if that was a different fee than in the past and was told that it's been that fee for several years now. How in the world can someone justify charging $600 for an autograph? I understand supply and demand but this one for the life of me I don't get. Needless to say I'm keeping the jersey unsigned. Thanks for letting me vent.

But for that $ I'll get a mantle, Joe D or any older HOFer for that.
Absolutely ridiculous.
I guess they ask as some will pay.

Honestly the lost litho was the first thing I thought of when they gave me a price.

<< <i>If he charges $600 now, think what it will be worth in the future!!! Especially with all the people who WONT pay 600

Its basic economics. Jeter doesn't need the money so what is the number that will make him come to Steiner to sign? Apparently its $600.....
<< <i>Once this price is established (?), that this will be the price threshold from here on out, will the already signed auto. cards we pull from packs rise in price accordingly? If not, this would seem to be a cheaper alternative for his auto. >>
I haven't noticed any correlation between prices charged at shows/private signings and pack issued autos. Pack issued seems to be the way to go unless you're looking to get something larger signed that can't be done any other way.
