All cards came from same source at same time - postcard backs. Not sure about trims or miscuts but overall very happy.

Thanks for sharing. I'd be happy with the grades too, as these are tough to get nice ones in; looks like a couple high grades in there too, including some 9's, nice. No idea what your first item was since the 2nd one was #1 Sullivan, but you really have to wonder on subs like this how they can N9 the card #12? Can you please describe how much size variance there was from card to card? I have a lot of these too, and I generally only include one per order unless I find that I have multiple ones with the exact same dimension. I even have some that vary in size rather noticeably when it is the same card, not just different numbers from the same set. Since the set was issued over a large number of years, changes in printing processes is right to be expected, but I am surprised to find size variance with the same card number. Besides the dimensions, I also notice a considerable variance in texture and tone. There are some that are matte with sepia or near it, some glossy w/ traditional black and white, and many that are between the 2 extremes. Here again, the differences exist even with the same card number. As far as all your miscut/minsize/EOT's go, whether just a crazy theory or if there actually is more to it, I like to convince myself that I have a lot better luck avoiding otherwise would-be rejects for cut issues if I only sub cards from the same set that have the identical dimension, even if the variances are all still legit issues.

The first card in the submission was a Beagles postcard - Jack Johnson (apparently PSA does not grade these). I picked up a run of 1-72 late last year and submitted them en masse. Why the #12 card (Luis Firpo) was N9, I have no idea. Looking forward to getting these in the mail!! I doubt I'll resubmit any of the rejects as only the Graziano and the LaMotta are higher dollar cards.

I do not have the cards in hand yet; but when I get them I will publish some sort of analysis.

I have them in hand and the sizes do vary, especially within the matte / sepia cards which were apparently an earlier run from the glossy white. I really doubt anyone post-factory trimmed these guys - I think it was a crappy cutting process (but who knows?) They just blew it on the #12 Firpo. I resub the Graziano as I cannot tell anything that could be classified as a miscut and its the only decent card that got N8. A bunch of these will end up on ebay where they generally go for 20 - 75 depending on the star and grade.

Interesting stuff, thanks for the post. I've always hesitated to send cards with relatively noticeable size variation in with the same sub if they are from the same set for fear of them getting rejected for Minsize or Miscut because of the grader comparing them side by side. Sounds like it isn't something to necessarily be concerned about based on your results, at least for this particular set anyway.
