2009 Bowman Chrome Mike Trout Auto RC

Does this card have the same potential as the Bowman Chrome Pujols auto?

I keep putting off getting one but the price seems to keep increasing. I want one for my collection before they are completely out of reach.

Anyone think $2K is a realistic number for this rookie in the next few years? And does this card have much more room for growth compared to his other 2009 auto RCs?

Keep in mind, if he inks a 10 year deal to extend his contract, he'll still only be 32 when he's a free agent again!!!

I know! He could put up insane lifetime numbers if he stays healthy.
  • I really want Trout to continue to perform at this level.

But once there was this Fred Lynn guy....

    +1

I think of the modern players he is a great investment along with Puig and a few others. Jose Fernandez comes to mind. Nothing is guaranteed, but if they pan out, the return could be double or triple the investment...

Ha, exactly. I think Trout has more talent but point taken.

That's why it's crazy to think about shelling out $500-$600 for his raw Bowman Chrome auto.

Then again, it won't seem crazy if it tops $1K with a monster year this year.

It's tricky because I usually collect HOF rookies once it's clear someone is going to the Hall, but if I wait that long with Trout I'd be paying 3x-4x what it is now!
  • I loaded up on Buster Posey graded auto's awhile back. Even when he got injured his cards dropped maybe 20% or so. Trout is a good investment IMO. If your going to go in, go in big. Spread around through different products. Graded. Refractors, Auto's, short prints, etc. post if you do!

As much as Puig has a ton of potential to put up crazy numbers and highlight throws, my second best long-term investment (after Trout) would probably be Manny Machado. Young, athletic and already a dynamite gap hitter that will have a power spike as he fills out. And once Hardy leaves, he moves back to his natural position where he will be one of the best shortstops in the major leagues...

I don't see Trout's prices reaching Pujols level unless the Angels start winning.

If Trout ends up with Vlad Guerrero type numbers at the conclusion of his career, will he be considered a lock HOF'er?

    Trout

I am not sure where those that follow this card would expect it to end but this seems like a strong price so far.

It is wild how these limited print auto rookie go for such big money.

After his rookie year I bought a Blue Ref auto from a seller on Ebay for $700. Card was GEM in my eyes but PSA graded it a 9. My mistake was not cracking it and sending it to Beckett which certainly would have recieved the subs to be a 9.5. I sold it right before last season for $1100 nervous he would not perform the same or better season 2. Well he did. And from what I remember there were not many people selling them throughout this off season (checked often) once this year started they were up again and I believe the Blues are selling for $2200+ in a psa 9 and over $3k for the BGS 9.5! GGGGRRRRR would I love to have the back NOT TO SELL!!!!! Dude is the real deal but for whatever reason he does not attempt stolen bases anymore so that career number will be down from the potential it could have been.
