If there was an Olympic event for bid retractions...

...this guy would definitely bring home the gold:

"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

He'd better watch out. If he reaches 6,000 retractions over a 6-month period, ebay will suspend his account for a full 24 hours!

No, his account gets placed on probation for 24 hours and if he racks up more than 50 retractions in those 24 hours, he will be subject to further disciplinary action. (Up to and including a sternly worded email and an offer to list up to 1000 items with no insertion fee).
