Has LM created another "Ike Monster"? / THANKS

No, not a "Monster" Ike. Don't mean to imply that Lord Marcovan has become "Doc" Marcovan! image

I recieved a 1972-S PR69DCAM Ike today in the mail, and I didn't buy one! image
This was the coin that LM put into his eBay "lottery" which, by some stroke of good luck, I won. I have some Ikes which I bought raw and did not grade this high. I might have to dig them out and see if I should join the ranks of the proof Ike collectors now! Of course, Mark of Merc fame would appreciate that! image

I should add that LM did not recognize my "crazy fingers" eBay handle, and my winning "ticket" was a measley $11 "marking" bid which I made before LM added his offer. I was totally surprised when I recieved his e-mail telling me that I had won.

BIG THANKS to LM, a real straight-up guy!!! image

...and fair warnin' to all you #8s out there!!! LOL image

Regards,

Don

Big huge impressive beautiful common date proof. Some of the other proofs sure are cheap too. Pretty soon you want the whole date run. That 76 Clad Ty1 proof hurt, but the hole in your set hurt worse.

Those MS silvers are neat too, and again the 72-S is the siren call... so pretty in high grade, and so cheap. By the time you've ponied up for a nice 71-S, you probably picked up a clad along the way.

Maybe a nice easy D-mint... pretty soon, there are only how many 1972 in MS66?? Ah yes, you're in for it.

Hm... LM, another strategic "giveaway" coin is on the way to you! image

That's what happened to me and proof Franklins. Bought one as a type piece, and the next thing you know, I had a set.

I might as well collect all the Ikes I have about 70% of them for the various type sets.

Glad you got it OK. image

Speakin' of lotteries, what comes around goes around, apparently. I hit $500 on a $2 GA Lottery scratchoff ticket the other day! image

Guess how much of it I have left, and how much of it got spent on coins? (Hint- pick a number between zero and...zero- I told the wife about the lucky win. Duhh.) image

  • Hey LM,

Glad to hear your kharma was of the instant type. I think that at least $250 should go back into coins! image
Best of luck in your new collecting interests.

    Supercoin,
I've heard the sirens call. I have a full set (not all cert.) and actually hoarded the silver MSs. Used to cherry-pick the blue Ikes at my local shop for years. Finally cherry-picked the cherry picked, and sent them in. Wound up with quite a few MS67s and one MS68 '74-S. image
Didn't do as well with the clads, though! image
I sure could use some of your's! image
