I collect Psa 70's Steelers and have picked up here and there several Topps Vault items. Are these worth going after or is it a waste of time and more importantly money?
Since they have a direct connection to the graded cards I collect, it's hard to ignore them. I've posted some of the ones I have. Any insight/opinions on these are appreciated...........thanks, James

I'm unsure of the long term investment, but personally collect it if you like it. If you're going for an investment I think the more popular the player the better the potential.
I can't address investment since I have no idea.
I've learned a lot from buying certain items like matchprint proofs and other laminar overlay proofs e.g. A lot of work goes into producing those little pieces of cardboard.
Moreover, I've picked up somewhere around 150 pen & ink pieces that are the model for the comics that one finds on the cards.
E.g. Don Buford:
I find enjoyment and satisfaction is having something that's 1 of 1 - unique tho affordable.
Also, for whatever reason, Topps sometimes made their artwork in phases with color on cardboard with a mylar ink overlay:
final product:
Further - some people who collect sets e.g - also like having a 'companion' copy of the "proof" of a pack for that year.
If one has deep pockets, then collecting "star" items is great - but since I don't have that kind of resources - commons are just fine with me.
As many have said - if ya like'm? IMO, you'll never go wrong collecting what makes ya happy.
