A friendly warning

about seller "battlefield0516"

So I purchased about $70 worth of cards from her and received them today. All four were significantly lower grade than pictured on the auction, which isn't exactly a tragedy - I buy hundreds of cards a month and sometimes it happens. But this seller has many high-dollar cards ending tonight and over the next couple days (Mantles, etc) selling in the hundreds and thousands, so I felt the need to warn others.

Link to one of my purchased cards: Williams

I won the above card, but this is the one that arrived today:

Checking further, it appears that she manipulates the scans and photoshops the rough corners. The card I received and the one in the auction pic are indeed the same card (see the faint blemish in the right border above the green), but the auction's pic has been altered.
This happened on all four cards I ordered, so it doesn't appear to be a single case.

Just wanted to warn the community that you might not get what you win from this seller, so be cautious.

  • It appears that two of her other buyers got the same deal Matt did if you check her negative feedback. I don't often condone negative feedback, but in cases of severely altering images for profit I say it needs to be done.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

If ANYONE deserved a neg, it's that seller!

  • That practice she has been using for a very long time. I finally had to buy some cards from her a couple of months ago because they just looked so nice. I had to return over half of them. If you check her neutral and negative feedbacks they are almost all the same response - " the card in the photo did not match the one received- bait and switch". I had to find out for myself, and it is true, she has always altered her scans.
If it's worth doing..It's worth overdoing!!

this is TREMENDOUS!!!, OUTSTANDING!!!, FANTASTIC!!!, PHENOMENAL!!!, STUNNING!!! & SPECTACULAR!!! advice.

  • You know, after looking at her auctions a little closer, she is adamant about the cards she is selling not being altered. Doesn't say anything about not doctoring the scans though.

  • I believe she has operated under at least three names. I purchased a few cards from her (under one of her other selling names) about 2 years ago and a clemente came back from PSA twice as altered (she may not have known about this depending on how she obtains her inventory). She banned me after I complained. The three names she has operated under were all located in the same place and used the same selling strategy (descriptive terms instead of actual grading terms and pictures from a slight distance. Although it looks like she's moved to altered scans.) I'm fairly sure it's her with all three as I was banned by the other two as well although I've never purchased from them. Hope this helps someone else.

I have watched those auctions for a long time and just thought they were "too good to be true". Now I guess my thoughts have been confirmed. I am glad I never did. Sorry this happened to you...thats pretty shady. Is there anything that can be done with the seller thru Ebay??

I confronted her by email and she denies any shady activity, saying if she was trying to mislead buyers, she wouldn't offer refunds

I'm sure she, like other sellers who do similar things, figure that a no questions asked refund policy will always get her out of trouble

    Thanks for posting!

Hope this POS gets banned from ebay, even though she/he will only return.

On something THIS obvious you would think ebay would have to do something?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

OH WELL, let the buyer beware, and if the buyer gets screwed, post it on the message boards!

Thanks again, I'll never buy from this person..........................wait a minute, maybe a BUNCH of people should buy from her and all return the cards and leave negatives....................naw, that wouldn't work, would it?

She/he is not a fan of PSA per her responses to negative feedback. Evidently part of her/his business
model is buying graded SGC/Beckett and cracking out and selling raw. Thanks for outing this seller.

These two replies were in reference to the cards being returned as EOT by PSA.

    "Reply by battlefield0516 (Dec-20-13 08:14):
Previously graded a 5 by SGC! PSA missed this one as usual! Horrible company!"

    "Reply by battlefield0516 (Jun-28-13 23:22):
Card was previously graded a 7.5 (NM+) by Beckett! PSA blew it on this one!"

Matt, thanks for letting me know about her or most likely him pretending to be her.

This is a definite neg worthy recipient. Maybe I should send her a message through eBay so I'm banned from all her accounts like Eric.

  • Not sure what, if anything, would make me buy from this seller. Hideous feedback on Toolhaus (14 neg 14 neutral in 12 months), and the auction pics - you can see the editing in the auction pic, and if you poke about with Photoshop...

    Eric
  • Based on my own past experiences with the seller, I'd assume that cards (as displayed) are generally at least 1 to 2 PSA grades away from the looks of the images. I would definitely bid accordingly, if at all, but I'd nevertheless add that I was quite pleased with one purchase in particular, that being a card which would eventually wind up in a PSA 8 holder. Perhaps, I got lucky.

I've never purchased high-dollar cards from the seller, and although my past ebay feedback indicates satisfactory transactions, I'd likely stay clear of high-dollar items now and in the future.
