I went 2 for 6 on a 75 mini review sub last week, from 9 to 10.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
I am bummed but they were all real nice 9's ( 1 was 8 -71 Brooks) I think half could easily bump I think if they were commons they would almost all be 10's - not the Robby I hope for $300 they at least put the stickers on advising why not. I compared them all to current 10's and you could make an argument that my 9's were better. I can't justify the $25 grading fee again though..

What did they say downgraded most of them? Centering?
The review sub I just got back had post its on the 4 cards that didn't bump with a reason why.

the grades just popped so I won't know for a few days.. I haven't had post its on the last few reviews I did, but I was running at 33% so I didn't care, I chalked it up as cost of doing business
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Most recently 0-6. $240 in grading fees, plus shipping. Oh, and they were all graded late. At least I got some post-its with hand drawn arrows for my money.
I didn't even get that! I had a GORGEOUS 1957 Williams SGC 8.5. I was willing to accept a PSA 8. I couldn't even get THAT! I heard that someone else was able to get it into a crossover slab. I wasn't able to! :-(
FORGEDABOUDIT you have better chance of making money betting on a horse.I found that out long ago. What has started up as a nice fun hobby has turned into a bundle of stress for too many collectors/investors. It is what it is.
I think the issue of whether to crack and resubmit versus a straight review is a bit complicated (at least in my view). If you crack and resubmit, there is always the danger of damaging the card (I actually had that happen with a PSA 9 78 Schmidt; thankfully a relatively cheap lesson). There is also the chance the cracked card could come back in a lower grade or receive the dreaded minimum size requirement/evidence of trimming mark (of course, that is not saying previously graded cards were encapsulated with purposeful knowledge of trimming; we have all had the experience of pack fresh cards receiving the designation during one submission yet slabbed on the next; there is obviously disrection involved here). Submitting a review avoids all of the above risks. On the flip side, it would seem an "unbiased review" (without the prior grade known) could push the grade higher.
All told, and in deciding what to do in my case, I consider the cost of the card in its current holder and weigh the above risks/benefits. Neither avenue is full proof or guaranteed. Grading remains inherently subjective.

I went 0 for 25 once. I'll never do it again. I've had many crackouts bump.
It is what it is.
