What will this end at? - 1985 Topps BB Vending

24 Box Case
Not mine and I won't be bidding since I think it's already to high and hasn't met reserve.

I personally think it's a reasonable buy even up to a grand.

I bought many of these from Steve for 35 bucks a piece over the last few years, as they were a blast to go through at that price despite the vending frustrations.

BBCE's buy price is $600, but it sure is nice being in it's original outer box. I've never actually seen that before.

I just ripped a wax box of this product and got nothing worth submitting. Puckett and Clemens are worth sending in only if they are 10's and McGwire has to be a 9 or 10.

As far as I could find out no value in commons right now even in a 10.

If you don't get a couple of nice McQwire's, you can have a helluva bonfire!!

+1, basing my buy prices on ripping value ($20-25 for a 1985 vending box) there haven't been many (any?) in the past couple years I've won. There might be a slight premium for the nostalgia factor since it was the first set I built from wax as a kid, but nowhere near what others seem to be willing to pay. You might be able to make some profit on 10s of stars (Rose, Ripken, etc.), but gambling on 10s only is a losing game.

$20-$25? I'm assuming you haven't won any in recent memory, as they routinely go for $40 plus shipping on ebay and that's for loose boxes. A sealed case is obviously going to command a premium over that, as well.

Edit to add: The last 85 vending case sold for $1,500 on ebay.

I've won one sometime in the past 3 years on eBay (probably close to 3 years ago), but you're absolutely correct. For ripping value, I'm priced out and know it won't stay unopened if I have it unless they come out with a steel welded slab that has bulletproof glass back and front. Later 80s-2000ish is the nice range for ripping value right now and I'm driving a lot of scarcity in that market for the unopened collectors out there image

ETA: Check the 'sale' of the $1500 box (one BO accepted without actual sale price, other no longer available and probably sold offline)

I got a lead on a lot (I think around 10 but not sure until I see it) of 1985 Topps Baseball Rack Boxes. The boxes are supposedly from a former card store owner that passed away a while ago. His wife found them when she was packing her stuff for a move to Arizona. I know we hear these stories a lot, but I think this maybe legit since it came to me from people I know at church. I'm heading to her house this weekend to check it out.

If this does turn out to be true and the boxes are clean, what is a fair price I should offer her per box? The boxes go for $100-$130 on ebay and BBCE has a sealed rack box buy price at $250($83/box). I don't see any boxes on sale on his site. I talked to her and I don't think she really has any idea of what the boxes are worth.
