1971 Rose Cello

'71 Cello Rose on top

A.) are these (private) bids legit, and if so...

B.) how can anyone have the faith to bid aggressively on a star pack like this. What are the odds of legitimacy?

Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in, but IIRC, the cards were wrapped in cello and then put in the box. The box was NEVER factory wrapped in cello.

Yes, that's right. Before he added all the additional comments, it wasn't even clear to me what was going on in the photo. Surely with those comments any legit bidder would retract now. You're basically bidding on a mid grade rose, nothing more.

Even bruingirl would have done a better job on that one..

  • The '71 BB cellos came with a stick of gum in the center. I'd guess this pack doesn't have it. All of his advertising pieces are repro as well.

The seller is basically covering his butt with his additional comments. But if guys can make Christmas racks and list them on eBay, this really shouldn't surprise us.

Definitely not legit as the cards in these boxes were wrapped in clear cellophane, NOT THE BOX!!!

IMO that pack is a bogus as the $1,000,000 Statue of Liberty novelty notes.

Save your $ and wait for something with a bit more provenance if you are looking for 1971 cellos (they are
    VERY hard to find).

All these admissions and revelations by the seller and not a single bid retraction? No wonder there are so many scammers out there...
