    The good-ole pre-internet days.

The local market for kids was dictated by the local card shops and the gas stations.

I remember 1990 Score going for $1.25 a pack at one point, which was Upper Deck money.

Once I pulled the BO card while at a card shop, and the owner pulled out his Polaroid camera, snapped a pic, and pinned it up on the shop's "Wall of Fame," along with everyone else who pulled a key card from a pack opened at the shop.

I remember running up to the corner store when they would get in the boxes of 1990 Score. Me and a buddy would rip as fast as we could looking for that Bo Jackson card. To be 11 or 12 again.... I'd still like to get that card in a PSA 10 one day.

    Thanks

The backs though was where the REAL excitement came from - The player' This insert set lead the world in 90's Sports Card product inserts. Bow to the master of all 90's inserts:

I liked Thant score always used action shots, but it was always just of the player, never one with another player.

Loved '90 Score at the time, and still have a soft spot for it. In the midst of the 'Bo card' frenzy, they were selling for 20 bucks a box

No Sandbergs of any kind in that first box - Will keep an eye out - and also investigate what the error is !
  • RedHeart54RedHeart54 Posts: 2,279 ✭✭✭
The Sandberg error has 3B as his position on the front. Was a $10-$12 card back then.
  • There was a Sandberg actually in the box - but not the error kind.

Does anyone care (value wise) about the errors in this set? Sandburg, Milt Cuyler, Wells, etc

    Is that a hotel bedspread?
  • digicatdigicat Posts: 8,551 ✭✭
The Sandburg error is this one: 1989 highlights. If 3b is listed as his position, then it's the error. His 1989 highlights card should have NO position listed.

Shouldn't they have waited oh, I don't know, for the 90s to be almost over before making that call? image The 1992 Bowman set or 1993 Finest regular set (refractors are way too far out of most people's budgets) would be the two contenders for that title.

Now we just need someone to do a 1991 break...though for that you'll need one of each series. Trouble is I think factory sets at BBCE still go for a mere $6 (and what a BEAST that set is at 900 cards...you need three binders to fit both 1991 and 1992 sets and their R/T's more comfortably) so...

The morning forum check used to have a lot of blank posts from Maurice that he'd posted the night before and removed by morning.
  • This thread brought back some old memories. I walked down stairs to see how many 1990 Score Error cases I still had and my new cat Mikey was guarding them for me.

My 1990 Score 8 box case would kick all your cases' asses image

Geez - when will this thread go away - gotta open though - no matter how snoozefest it has become:

Boxes 6 and 7 highlights will be posted below (gag) Then one day soon - the unfortunate #8 box will go down - badly. The only thing worse than bustin' all this would be a 1986 Topps Baseball vending box case where all cards are reverse and upside down.

Box 8 will experience possibly the most horrific activity ever some day soon.
