Ticket poppage. Kentucky derby, WWF and politics

Tickets just popped. I didn't really care about the grades. I just wanted them slabbed. The Man O war ticket was a real difficult one to find. The horse racing tickets were for my rookie card collection. I'm using the tickets since the card options aren't that great. I just subbed the wrestling to see what notes psa would put on the flip. I think the pre wrestlemania III hogan vs Andre is cool. The Yankee ticket was just one my grandfather and I went to. He is. 93 and still a huge Yankee fan. I had a hook up and sat in the GM suite. Ill post a scan when I get them back. It's a cool looking ticket.

Here are the scans. I'm not sure if the slab really adds any value but I love the way tickets look in a slab. Especially when the flip explains the significance. The wrestling ticket IMO is way cooler because it says hogan vs Andre on the flip since I don't think many people remember that specific event if they were just looking at a raw ticket

Tickets for 2 of the greatest race horses of all time and the first triple crown winner.
    image

Zenyatta holds the record for most consecutive wins. This one was one of the early major ones
    image

Sat in the gm suite and met cashman with my 93 year old grandfather. Ticket is priceless to me but not with the price to slab to anyone else
    image

Wrestlemania 1 proof ticket.. The event that started it all for the wwf
    image

Very early match between Hogan and Andre. This would have blew my mind in 1987. Wrestlemania III was billed as the first time these 2 faced each other

Ha. So was I until another sold for about half what I paid for it. I never saw one for sale and then 2 came up for sale a few weeks apart. Haha. Oh well. Happy to cross it off the list

I had another 1948 derby ticket. It's also a 4 but its in the bigger slab. It looks way better in the smaller slab IMO. I like the actual ticket a little better in the larger slab though. Guess I'll have to try to get it reholdered.

some more tickets popped today. I figured the JFK was a cool stub to have just for the historical factor.. I'm a big Rudy fan and never really see ticket stubs for Mayor inaugurations so was happy to add it. I went to the daytona 500 and the got soaked in a rain storm so the ticket was in terrible condition.. but since i was at the event i wanted to get the ticket slabbed... the same with the Big east ticket.. it was one of the best sporting events i have been to. Got the tickets on stubhub and was litterally front row at MSG and got to see Providence win. Lastly the WWF ticket was an early event that featured Andre the giant vs Hulk Hogan. I'll prob end up selling it because it doesnt really fit my collection but i always like to find tickets from when these two wrestled each other for some reason.

Very cool item! This was the mega card that was headlined by Sammartino vs. Zbysko in the cage. Hogan claims that Andre and him were the reason for such a large crowd.

Apparently that is a debated fact.

I'm a big Reagan fan. The tickets are pretty cheap on eBay. I got one for less than 20 bucks and it got a psa 9. Not worth much but definitely one of my favorite tickets I have

I was just looking into the showdown at Shea.. The match is on YouTube. It's pretty weird seeing a match outside. The match itself was pretty boring but it was kinda cool to see. The best part is the commentators comment on these 2 random shirtless guys strolling around in the background. It's amazing how different major events were back then

I have a few tickets that i would like to get done...I have a few of Brock Lesnar when he was in college wrestling that would be fun to see slabbed. I saw former Patriots OL Stephen Neal defeat him in the finals and then another one I have is Dan Gable's only loss in high school and college (last match of his senior year). You are inspiring me here!

It's such a slippery slope for me. I started only slabbing significant tickets.. Eventually any ticket from events I went to.. And now buying tickets to get slabbed. It's fairly expensive to get tickets graded so it's pretty hard to justify getting most of the tickets I have gotten slabbed. I like having the significance on the flip. The Shea ticket alone is barely recognizable.. It's tough to even tell what even it's for... But slabbed it becomes a pretty cool ticket. I have even slabbed the amtrak ticket when I went Times Square for New Years to penn station on 12/31/99 and the return ticket from penn on 1/1/01.. Complete wast of money

  • Very Cool I like the wrestling tickets also, to bad they did not
include any headshots but as you say once in the slab the significance is obvious.

I just picked up a ticket stub for the prequel to Wrestlemania 1 War To Settle The Score . It's not in the best shape but I've never seen one before. I think it will look better Slabbed like the showdown at Shea ticket.

Those are great. Love the JFK and also like the personal touch on some of them that you have.

Growing up I used to keep a little tin of ticket stubs from events that my dad would take me to. I need to find that tin and get them slabbed like you did.

These tickets just popped today. Thrilled to see how they labeled the santa Anita ticket. I got the 1946 stub really cheap. I'm only 3 derby tickets away from having all of the triple crown winners. The 2 modern ticket are just events I went to. They didn't issue tickets for belmont at the gate.. They just let you in for 10 bucks. I picked up a ticket off the ground on my way out just to have a ticket from the event. It's too bad california chrome didn't pull off the win

These just popped. The ticket not graded is a 1973 Kentucky derby ticket with a signature on the back not relavent to the event or horse racing so I wanted it just graded and the signature considered a mark but psa was not comfortable doing that. The 1935 derby ticket presents a lot better than but it's nice to get it slabbed. The War to settle the score WWF ticket was a random find that looking forward to see in a slab. I also really like the presidential inauguration tickets. I might try to get them from 1900 to present. Pre 1900 are really tough but there is 1 Lincoln in the POp report which would be really cool

Very cool ticket. It is easy to forget that this was the show that catapulted wrestling into pop culture. It was now cool and not just for the "low class". Just a month and a half later WWF pulled off Wrestlemania and the rest is history.

I don’t have the wrestling tickets. I sort of wish I held onto the war to settle the score ticket because it was the prequel to wrestle mania. I still have the horse racing tickets and started to really get into presidential inauguration tickets. I’m waiting for a ticket special to get a few more slabbed.

Grades just popped on my last ticket sub. Was hoping the horse racing tickets graded a little higher. I’m very pleased they noted “Grand Slam” on the breeders cup ticket. Wasn’t sure if they would recognize that or not. I’m just missing 3 President inauguration tickets since 1900 now. I’ll scan them together once I get these back and post them. The president tickets are relatively inexpensive and pretty fun to collect. I got a blue obama ticket after I sent this submission that I’ll prob get slabbed and replace the orange one with. I don’t think any one color is worth more than the other... I just wanted red for Republicans and blue for Democrats.

I posted the President tickets in its own thread. These were the other ones. Was pleased to see that psa noted “grand slam” on the American Pharoah breeders cup ticket. The 84 Breeders cup was the 1st time the race was held.

This is my favorite of the sub by far. I mentioned going to PC games with my grandfather (who turns 100 this year). We were front row to see them win the big east tournament in 2014 and got that ticket slabbed. He was named “friar fan of the game” at a game a few years ago and got to go on the court during a timeout and was presented a team signed ball. I asked PSA to note that on the flip but didn’t really expect them to do it. When the grades popped there was no mention of it either. I was stunned when I got the tickets to see how they labeled it. Thanks PSA!
