How many people here own PSA stock?? Over $20 a share today!!

Was looking at their CLCT stock and thinking of purchasing some. Just wanted to see what people here thought of it. I see it is almost $20 a share, which is quite an increase from the $5 I remember it being at!!! Plus it appears to be around a 3 cent per share dividend. They have a conference call coming up soon announcing how they did for the quarter. Just wanted some ideas and opinions on it.

Bobby, not sure where you got your numbers. The stock pays a $1.30 annual dividend, which, at the stock's current price of $19.00 per share, comes out to almost 7%.

I thought I saw .0325, but another site has .325?? Is it 32 1/2 cent per share? Irregardless, 7 percent sounds really good!! Wish I had gotten in at $5!

bought and sold many times. Have made a fortune. Sold out my IRA position above $21. The stock always runs just before going ex-dividend so now is not the best time to buy. You can get a lower entry point. I have some non-IRA shares that go long term later this month

Having said that, CLCT is very open and transparent. They publish their coin stats every day in a detailed fashion. Card stats absolute cards graded are now also reported daily but not in the same detail. Based on those numbers they most likely did 18c last qtr vs 7c yr ago. They are running ahead of last years record pace when they made 29c for this quarter.

I can see it at $30 in 18 months as the CEO recently said they will cover the dividend and then some within 18 months. Wait for an entry. That may be the day it goes ex-dividend so you will miss 32.5c but gain a $1 share lower price. Well run company. Great management. #1 in all areas they play in. Have 50% of the coin market and 90%+ in the card market. There is an investor presentation on the home page. Worth viewing

Is it up to 90% of the card market? I knew it was in the mid 80's and if so this is just further evidence of PSA's domination.

Very nice. What is so comical is you can give these facts to a pro BGS person and they will argue with you all day but the facts are the facts. This is one of the primary reasons the spread in prices between most cards that are graded by PSA vs their competitors is getting wider and wider.
  • While this is all said and good, especially for share holders, what happens when that divide
becomes so large that they become a monopoly? It's not going to be fun for anyone but
the elite. Or affordable for everyone at that.

I thought 90%+ was a monopoly. That is why I advocate they raise prices.
  • Competition is good for everyone...the company and consumer. PSA, imo, will find itself in a hard place if it drives its competitors out of business; which I don't think they really want to do. I mean, seriously, if there were no BGS or SGC there would be no "Shining Star" PSA. BGS and SGC, in many ways, make PSA the best. Without them, they could become just another overpriced monopoly. Once you become that then consumers will do nothing but complain. Yes, they'll submit because they have no other choice, but then prices of graded cards won't be competitive. You'll see a bleak secondary market and, again IMO, they will only cater to the elite who can pay for the service.

Gotta love it when it doubles in a year. I was gonna sell a bunch to move up here etc. glad I didn't!

Now what does it do over the next 6-12 months.... Take some profits, keep the rest!
