Question about 10oz landscape Engelhard bars

I have a few bars like this: image

My question is what is the "collectible difference" between the logo reverse and the frosted reverse? On APMEX there is a $20 additional premium for the frosted reverse.

I looked on About.Ag and see the different styles, but unfortunately there isn't an explanation as to why one would be worth more than the other.

Thanks a lot!

Where? I could make $2-3 per oz after fees, by flipping them on Ebay or a bit more by selling them right here in the B/S/T forum. I'll buy them off you for $1 over spot. As many as you want to sell.

APMEX is currently PAYING $2 over spot for any generic Engelhard 10 oz bars.

If one has the retail venue and exposure of APMEX then please be encouraged to quit your day job. Otherwise you'd do well to proceed cautiously and test the waters before suggesting turning a worthwhile profit via popular auction or private forum.

Those particular examples are available at my LCS this weekend at spot plus a buck.

And L… tonight I tip my whiskey to you and old PT.

Careful with that, I heard it can be as addicting as collecting old pour Engelhards image

Yeah, I bet you're also still amazed by peek-a-boo. BTW, nice attempt at dodging my question. I call BS since you have no source of these magical premiums. Again, APMEX is paying $2 over spot for any Engelhard 10 oz bars. Apparently, you know more about these things than APMEX. Also note that APMEX has huge overhead and yet they're willing to pay $2 over.

You initially gave a range of 0.50-$2, which suggests that you're pretty clueless about these things. Yet, I'm the one who lacks intelligence?

Who cares what some no name LCS in some dump of a town is selling 1 or 2 of these bars for? That isn't indicative of market price. All that gets you is bragging rights for the Friday porn thread. "Ooh, look at me. I made a whole 30 bucks today after driving for 2 hours to my LCS in rush hour traffic." I don't have the time nor do I care to school you in Econ 101.

By your logic, an original copy of the Declaration of Independence is worth $2.48. That's what the local store sold it for! It's gotta be fair market value. Some sucker paid $480,000 for it a year later. Yeah, just keep yelling at the top of your voice that they're worth 0.50 over and maybe the OP will PM you and offer to sell them to you for spot. : )

And BTW, you should know that your comments about my intellect deeply hurt my feelings.... Considering that they're coming from an oh-so-important person, I think I'm going to have to cry myself to sleep now. Let's just hope I don't decide to slit my wrists in the middle of the night!

Isn't it just amazing how some people will jump at any perceived opportunity to belittle others? I just hope one day we'll figure out a way to breed out the Downing Effect.

If you want to know what your silver bar is really worth, call some of the major bullion dealers and ask what they will offer for it. A lot of the collector premium disappears when it comes time to sell.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Well if you (or anyone) would ever like to sell any of these to me for 50 cents over spot, let me know.

I'd like to think you were trying to be helpful but I'm still hoping for an answer to the meat of my question... What is the difference between the logo and frosted backs that makes one go for so much higher than the other - at least on APMEX?

    Thanks

The frosted reverse came out first .... I est. that around 25,000 were made .... with around 125,000 of the logo reverse made.

I can not prove those numbers .... just going on my experience of frequency seeing them. As for paying the extra $20 ... well, if'n you want one NOW...... just get it.

As far as value when it comes time to sell ..... figure that most dealers will generally offer the same for both types. [ the price of being a collector]

And you better have at least 1000 oz's to sell to get their attention in offering what still will be not too flattering of an offer. Don't bother trying to sell to them if you have <1000 oz's.

Also, I'm amazed at the restraint shown by rt1 after being tongue lashed by vpr. Leading by example once again image

It also amazes me how some people live to post right after someone says something, within minutes, like clockwork, trying to provoke an arguement, and then they try to come off as the victim when they get called out for the troll they are.

provoke an argument? I was just putting him in his place. Notice that he started the whole thing. A veteran member of this forum PMed me a list of idiots on the forum with a suggestion to put them in my ignore list. He was one of them. So, clearly, it's not just me.

I've always been kind, considerate and professional when dealing with other members on this forum. You won't find a single post of mine where I attack someone (excluding this thread).

Going forward, it would be wise for all the smart asses on here to act like adults, and refrain from calling others names.

I wasn't talking about you vpr image The troll knows who he is and he'll reply shortly, like clockwork because he has no life other than to constantly monitor what is said here and feels the need to respond to every comment made because he was neglected as a child so he's starving for attention here. image

Whether logo reverse or frosted reverse - I view them as dirt common.

I own many of each type. When I sell them someday I expect they'll be treated as common bullion.

You would need a sturdy truck, strong back and a fat wallet to buy them.

Alas, they are not for sale.
