I was exchanging some pleasant bantering ATS with an old light side acquaintance, and he got me to think of this piece that I acquired a few years ago. It's a AU Ducat from Silesia, KM-401. Hope you enjoy it.

(Yes, it is graded by our hosts, but please do not turn a nice coin into a GTG thread.)

No clue, but would be nice to find out. It came to me from a German dealer by way of an intermediary whom I know well.

Wondered because someone just mentioned a "tell" was red wax (or white wax) in the crevices. I had always assumed the gold coins with the wax residues were due to either Jews, or other refugees in WWI & WWII who actually sunk the coins into wax molds to smuggle out under the Nazi's noses.

Researched this a bit. Had not found many in mint state. The only one I came up with was an MS-62.
