1976 Baseball wrappers

I was hoping for some information on 76 baseball wrappers. I've seen wrappers with the front saying '1976 Series' that have 3 advertisements:

1-Sport Card Lockers
2-Team Pennants
3-Trade Cards

Question: In a full box, would you expect to find all packs to have one type of advertisement or could there be multiple advertisements?

There are also some wrappers that have 'All 660 cards in one series'.
Question - are these all left over 1974 wrappers or were they made for 1976 cards? The 1974 wrapper also has multiple advertisements, can all of those advertisements be found with 1976 cards as well? Can these packs be found mixed in with the '1976 series' packs in a full box?

I was thinking of buying an empty box and slowly filling it over time with individual packs and were curious how they were put together.

Would the answer to these questions change if we were talking about 1977 or 1978 cards as well?

thanks
Jim

    Hi Jim,

You should never see a mix of 1976 and 1974 wrapper variations in the same box. If you do, that's a clear sign the box is put together.

Topps would occasionally use wrappers from previous years and they did so in 1976 with wrappers from 1974.

However, you should see packs with an assortment of promos on the backs of the wrappers themselves.

If you see an uncut wrapper roll, it will always contain the ad variations in alternating fashion. So unless one ad is over-represented on the roll, you should see an equal number of all ad variations within a legit box.

For example, these 1975 wrappers (can't tell whether they're normal or mini) have one variation that appears twice as often as the other three. A legit full box would reflect that.

For 1976, another thing to keep in mind is that Topps produced both 10c and 15c packs. The 15c packs contained 10 cards while the 10c packs contained 7 cards. These packs also should not be found mixed in same box.

Is there an easy way to tell if a pack is the 10 cent variety or 15 cent variety without opening or guessing based on thickness?

No, wrapper is same, but pack is obviously lighter.
