How much deficit spending is sustainable?

Virtually everyone in Washington agreed that a Trillion a year was too high. Now we are at an advertised $700B or so. Zero is good in my book, and actually paying off some debt is better.

What number going forward is manageable?

    I figure that 1.5% of GDP would work. Of course that would be if we didn't have a 17 Trillion dollar pile of debt.
