Happy 50th Long Beach Expo: big photo of DH

There's a story online in the Long Beach Press-Telegram about the 50th anniversary of the Long Beach Expo, now the Long Beach Coin, Currency, Stamp & Sports Collectible Expo. Check out the photo of Mr. Hall at work.

I recently sent a 1906 IHC to PCGS that I bought from S&J Coin in Long Beach probably between 1956 and 1961 and it graded MS65Red. Nice memory, as I spent my summers in Long Beach in the summers with my grandparents. Neat article from the Long Beach Press-Telegram. Thanks for the post.

I am helping Joel Rettew, Sr. at his Long Beach table (#721). Many people do not know this, but Joel is one of only six dealers who attended the first Long Beach Expo 50 years ago, and who still attends today. He has had a table at every show for the past 50 years.

Another interesting bit of information: David Hall worked for Joel Rettew Rare Coins very early in his professional career. I found a photo with David Hall, Joel and Walter Breen reviewing a rare coin collection back in the 1970s, and I will post it later. Joel held rare coin auctions back in the 1970s. I found one of his old catalogs a few years ago and the coins were just phenomonal.

...either Mr. Hall just got done with a 2 or 3 week hawaiian vacation (forgetting to use sun block)...or he needs to take some breaks in between grading under those tanning lights image

Congrats on 50 years to the LBE,
    Erik
