Did anyone notice the price the last Elway 10 got on eBay? It got $2879! Just 6 months earlier it was $1800. And it's not even a PWCC or Probstein auction. For a modern football card that's not that difficult to find, that is a great price in a great market!

Well, there are some who believe that the current values of vintage unopened product are inflated due to rapid appreciation in market prices. I don't know if we are in a "bubble market" or not, but my point is that prices for graded single cards in high grade have also risen sharply in recent months, as evidenced by the OP with regard to the jump in value of this particular card.

I agree. Pretty much perfection.

But I thought EVERY PSA 10 was perfection....

<< <i>That card was graded a while back when 4SC cards had cert #s starting from 81XXX. IIRC, the 4SC cert #s ran from 812XXX to 819XXX. >>
Ah, ok, now it makes sense. Forgot about the 4SC factor. Thanks Tim

<< <i>Personally, nowhere near the best Elway RC I've ever seen because, as itzagoner said, the right border is just wrong. It looks like it was cut with a pair of scissors by a 5 year old. Perhaps it's some weird effect from the scan. If it isn't, that is an odd 10 and it would bug the crap out of me every time I looked at it. >>
It's not the scan because that border looks just as bad from the back.
My guess is this is a $5k card in 5 years...look at Gretzky 9's going for over $10k, Manning Contender 9 bringing over $12k...Iconic cards like Elway PSA 10 RC's have upside in my opinion.
Lastly, I agree, I've seen and I actually own nicer Elway PSA 10's...I have even seen a few 10's that are diamond cut - this makes me appreciate even more the nice couple I own

This makes me really wish I still had my PSA 10 '86 Topps Steve Young...I can't imagine what that would go for now.
it got through, and should not come as a shock to anyone who has been reading and/or participating on this board.
as we presume our opinions are only that and are here to be shared, i'd agree that the card is not one which i'd choose for myself.

One popped up on eBay about a year ago. I talked to the seller offline and I be;ieve he was looking at the 5K range. I almost picked it up but did not. However, someone on these boards did. He actually subbed it and got a 10 back. It had been pop 3 for years before that one...and it's remained a Pop 4
Also, I agree with itzagoner that this was a factory miscut. If someone purposely trimmed the card to look like that, they are very confused on what a straight line is. It is what it is. None of should be surprised. 4SharpCorners just has a good eye for cards that have a good shot at a 10

I don't think 5k on a psa 10 young is ridiculous at all. That card went ten plus years without increasing the pop report for a 10. Would love to see one hit an auction house someday...bet it would go crazy.
