Another Ric Flair PSA 10 hit today.

Interesting. Too bad my Flair was not at PSA now. I am sending in a nice one. I have hit a 8 and 9 to date.

There has been quite a few more Ric Flair cards surface compared to Hogan. I am curious to see how that piece plays out longer term.

  • wrestlingcardkingwrestlingcardking Posts: 4,555 ✭✭✭✭
Without a doubt Flair is way easier to find than Hogan. It is not even close.

The same issue seems to be at play with the Popy Hulk Hogan. So many of the packs have the Mascaras card on front. Even a guy with the whole set for sale said he wasn't sure if Hogan had a card.

They seem like short prints to me for whatever reason. Time will tell if they remain as difficult to find.

Is the primary source of the cosmos cards the unopened material that sumo had? If so it could just be a sequencing issue and the hogan is SP in that box but other boxes might have a different card that seems SP. I'm just throwing that idea out there. I agree that the hogan seems much more difficult to find than the others. The Popy cards seem to be even more rare. The figure collectors also keep the prices of those cards up there. I don't really follow sales on the Popy cards but I havent seen many. The Popy hogan is my favorite wrestling card it the 82 is certainly more iconic. Sort of like 84 star jordan vs 86 Fleer or 51 bowman vs 52 Topps mantle.

I think there was a Flair in all 8 of those packs I had. Only two Hogans. With 6 cards in the set and only 5 cards per packs it seems the SP was the Hogan. It seems there are a lot more surfacing than the 8 packs. Would love to find some more unopened material.

There has been a fair share of these surfacing that did not come from Sumo.....

I agree.. I have seen quite a few these recently. How rare are the Popy cards? I have seen far fewer of those. Any sales on the hogan card?

I am one of the few that have offered some of these Popy cards for sale. I have a complete set and willing to sell my duplicates to others. I have got some good sales and some have taken a while to move. They are certainly rare to find and expensive to acquire so I do not want to give them away. These will always be tough but they are not circulating consistently through collector's hands probably hurts their value a bit. I do love the photos and everything about them. I have never seen a sale of a Hulk Hogan, but I would think it would go under for what it should go for considering the rarity of it. I really want one to get signed for my collection, but I have not seen one to purchase at all.

Considering its hogans first card that is standard size, traditional stock ect.. I think it has a lot of upside.

    Another PSA 10 Flair hit.

There are a total of 9 Flair's in the pop report and only 3 Hogan's.

I have been checking lately to see if it was added. Thanks for getting this taken care of.

Awesome, almost 1 year to the day these cards were "uncovered".

    Pop report

Some Gem Mint examples hit today.

Interesting to see that the Hogan population total is still stuck on three.

Very interesting for sure. I haven't seen any of these up for auction recently.

Very nice and cool that Flair is going to do the induction. Will have to watch now for sure.

A Hogan PSA 10 hit this morning.
  • SumoMenkoManSumoMenkoMan Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭
Very cool! This is a tough set. I have only seen one pop up the past few months.
  • Dpeck100Dpeck100 Posts: 10,912 ✭✭✭✭✭

Sumo thanks for introducing this set to wrestling card collectors. A collector friend Greg has been getting huge offers for his PSA 10 Hogan and Flair. It really looks like supply has dried up and that waive of fresh copies didn't last long. So glad I bought a nice raw copy of each when I had the chance.

No problem. Glad I could help with their identification. Still very hard to find in Japan.

  • Dpeck100Dpeck100 Posts: 10,912 ✭✭✭✭✭

I check the 1982 Wrestling Pop everyday and man this set has been stuck on 48 cards graded for a while.

These may indeed be much more rare than once thought.

Nothing has came my way with this set in quite some time.

I haven’t found any new ones of these in Japan in years.
