I was able to make it to this show. It was a little over 1 hour drive from where I was staying. I never been to Lapeer when I lived in Michigan and it is a typical small north Michigan town. The show was at the American Legion Hall and they had Denny signing. I didn't see if it was Denny McClain but I assumed it was.
There were about 40 tables split between NASCAR, sportscards, and other memorabilia. Unlike some of the Detroit area shows, I think most of these guys were small collectors. There was one guy that had higher $ stuff and a stack of $100s in his case saying "BUYING". He seemed a little bit out of place at this show. Generally the dealers were pretty good guys and I enjoyed talking to them.
The stuff in the cases was mostly modern with a few off grade vintage. There wasn't anyone with a quantity of boxes to sell, only a few scattered around. There were no supplies dealers. I did pick up a couple of early 1980's baseball boxes and knocked out some of 2013 Topps Chrome FB needs.
Overall I enjoyed the two hours I spent there. It reminded of the small Detroit shows in the 1980's and early 1990's. It was a nice break from the Gibraltar and mall shows. Next time I am in town I would go again.
