I can change mine whenever I want? You can't?
I just added the Metropolis "work" image I now have the other day when I removed the scan of my original Sasaki Hiroshima photograph.

As far as I know you can only upload a new avatar on the 16th of every month.
Also, you need to use it right away and keep it for awhile, if not you may loose it.

I had to search around for a PC to use because I never saw that icon on any of my apple products...finally got lucky and found a homeless crack-addict whom let me use his PC for a brief moment, in exchange for a day-old bakers dozen of donuts and a half burnt cigarette. Once I did all of the above I was able to choose my own avatar

With IE and Chrome it's open season on uploading a new author icon for me.
Anytime I want.

I've tried out a few new ones one and off for the last few weeks.

I tried safari on a PC (not mac) and it is there.

as already mentioned other browsers on a PC have it.

I can no longer upload my custom icons like my slides or tinted Metropolis images so, I was lucky enough to remember the file name of this one - I no longer own this Benson Pr10C, but I am at least the author of this icon

I HAVE to use Chrome to add names to my 'block member' list, so I don't have to get unwanted PM's. BUT, the FIRST time I logged on using Chrome, I found I CANNOT log OFF from Chrome, EVER, so 'the light's always on', but there are times when 'no one's home'. I can delete names from that list (which was just a test, once on it, that's that) from IE, Chrome and Firefox. I can do everything with Firefox. It's odd that some browsers allow you to do certain things and not other.

I am ALWAYS logged on, now, thanks to Chrome (I can log off from others, but Chrome keeps me logged on). As I mentioned earlier, I logged on once, and that's it.....light's always on. BUT, regardless of the browser I'm using, I found I can upload/change my icon any time of any day, I want. I figured the powers that be got tired of us asking on the 15th of every month, 'is today upload day, or tomorrow?'....no one wanted to, but everybody seemed to (and a lot forgot, just spaced out on it) miss the simple, one day a month rule, so our hosts just left it up permanently, because we couldn't remember 'change day' was on the 16th...every month (sometimes it was that next Monday, maybe the 17th or 18th....if the 16th was a weekend, we had to wait).

If you are having trouble, given what I've experienced jumping from browser to browser, simply try another browser if the one you are using doesn't show it's available to utilize. If you can't seem find it listed using different browsers, it's sumthin' other than a browser issue, which was my original issue.

I had my backwards bust cutout for a couple of months, it went poof yestereday so I had to go with my old CZ icon.......

Change your forum password while using Firefox and you'll get logged out of Chrome. Then just change it back. Fun, eh?

Just use one of those which is available in the list. If anybody faults you, its their problem not yours.

Now, if PCGS would cut loose with some actual administrators, maybe there wouldn't be such a fuss over who posts what and who uses what avatar but as it sits right now, the only administration which does occur is with a sledge hammer!

Hey, mine just poofed to a Lincoln Cent too.

Yep, I changed mine last night, it poofed to the default Lincoln cent, and apparently vanished. So all I have are the ones I uploaded in the old days.

Looks like we've gone back to the upload curtain being closed until otherwise declared open by the mods? Maybe some naughty trolls were abusing the open uploading again. That's what happened several years back to cause the crackdown.

So, Bodin, I guess you're outta luck until the mods open the curtain again. That used to be done once a month, on or near the 15th of each month. (A one day open upload so the mods could police it.)

Who knows what it will be now.

I think there is one in the database called icon_blank which is essentially a transparent gif, to give you an invisible avatar, if you don't like being a red-X or question mark, and don't want to use someone else's.
