Problems with USPS Tracking. Package mailed but no updates

Has anyone else had any issues with USPS tracking not updating on website?

I mailed an insured package to SGC on Tuesday (21st) and the only update on USPS website is from when I created the label on the 18th. I called my local postmaster and they asked me to wait until Monday, stating that sometimes tracking will not update along the way and all tracking will be loaded into system once item is delivered.

Any help appreciated.

I have seen it happen as your local postmaster described, all tracking being uploaded only upon delivery. Give it until early next week.

Tracking seems to be all sorts of screwy right now. If I were dishonest, I could have opened up several cases and received a refund after packages had already arrived (one showed it bouncing back and forth between the wrong zip code in town and the distribution center w/no update it was delivered, another never updated after showing Enroute to the local distribution center).

I live in Canada but near the border. This morning I flipped across to mail something with tracking. As I was handed the slip they guy asked me if I knew where to find the tracking number I said I'm sure I can figure it out. Then he said well it's not on there that's just the label number. So when I enter the label number on the USPS site it comes up as not found and I have no idea how to find the actual tracking number.

Could be on receipt?

No he told me it would not be on there, that the "label" number is on there. Which it is, I just have no idea what the label number is for. I enter it as a tracking number on USPS site and it does not recognize it.

it takes up to 24 hours for usps to update their system try again tomorrow



as for usps tracking , its really called delivery confirmation . They only promise an update on delivery. Only express mail has actual tracking .

My guess is I sent it express. I sent it from Washington State today and it's scheduled according to receipt to be in Jacksonville Florida on Monday.

I've had this happen to me when mailing something with registered mail.

I have gotten packages that weren't scanned until delivery, but that is unusual. The vast majority of USPS packages are scanned upon acceptance at the PO, when they arrive/depart a sort facility and when they arricve at the addressee's PO, and then finally upon delivery. Weather was very bad in Northeast on 1/21 into 1/22 so that may have something to do with it.

They changed the name from delivery confirmation to USPS tracking. Tracking is available for first-class, it's included with priority and priority mail express (also renamed).

Finally a scan has shown up on website for USPS sort facility in Kearny NJ, so that is a good sign. I live in SC and none of the local scans are showing, definitely Unusual.
