Group Rip?

I have the bug to rip some packs. It feels like we haven't had one on the boards in quite a while. What are the chances of doing one in the next couple of weeks? Mark (cincyredlegs) does a phenomenal job running it but it takes a lot of time I know. I'd love for you to run it, but if you're just too busy and not able to take it on, I'd be happy to do it.
Anyone else looking to rip?

I looked at what went up yesterday. There was some nice stuff but not really the $ amount to justify a group rip. Hopefully he will be able to make a couple of deals where we can have a group break.
Maybe somebody can convince Mike (CpaMike) to host a group break.

I've yet to partake but 84 & 86 Topps Football and 89 Score Football might be enough to drag me in.

I'd be in for a 75 mini box, but as Mark said, the pickings are pretty slim for a rip at this point, imo.

Even if he gets in other 70's wax or cello boxes, it would not surprise me if many of those boxes would sell out in a few hours.
There is no way we can expect this stuff to make a rip in today's environment. I'm thinking a lot of unopened collectors check
BBCE's website every hour of every day.

So, several people have already said that they see stuff they are interested in but Cincy and Grote say the pickings are slim. It's almost as if they don't want someone else to put together a group rip. Hmmm, wonder why would that be?

Um, ok.. Have you checked the site yourself? Do you see a 75 mini box that no one else can see? Do you see any of the 80s boxes Steve listed for sale yesterday still available? I'm not buying anything because there are no 70s boxes to buy, but your conspiracy theory is rather entertaining.
And if putting together a group rip is "not really as hard as some would make it out to be," why don't you just organize one yourself, champ, instead of taking unwarranted pot shots at Mark's efforts?

The gig is up Cincy and Grote. Aric wants a cut too now. I'm willing to give him 50% of my take.

Could break a hundred cases of this stuff in a group rip and all would have a large supply of 'Don't rip it' saviors during stressful 'should I rip this 75 pack or not' situations.
Just put me down for 2 packs of everything.

Conspiracy theory? Ha. Why do you guys both get so defensive anytime I bring up the fact that someone else should take a turn at organizing a rip. Two others have stated they see stuff on the site they are interested but yet since there's nothing you want we shouldn't do a rip. Get over yourself, if you don't want to be part of a group rip then just don't respond.

I have. I did an 80's football run and it took a total of about 2 hours work. I don't think you know what "pot shot" means.
<< <i>Hey if the same old 80's stuff is gettin' old why not have fun with cheap cases where boxes would be the thing - It's fun to have junk stuff around to break at times of indecision on bustin' a whopper of some kind -

I'm sorry, I didn't realize I needed to check with you before making an obvious and factual statement about unopened inventory on Steve's site. I'll make sure to run that by you beforehand prior to posting in the future, champ. In the meantime, try not to be so ornery just because Mark vetoed your suggestions about two years ago, and yes, I certainly do know what a pot shot is when I see one.
Edit to add: For the record, I would be interested in anything baseball from 1970s through early 1980s, as I have been since 2006 but even if I weren't participating, best of luck to anyone else who wants to put a rip together.

This thread is starting to smell like 76 cello drama.

You mean my suggestion that everyone should have an opportunity for one of the empty boxes. Ah yes, how nice of you to remember. How is Mark's empty box collection coming along anyway. Perhaps you can pull your head out of his butt to take a look.

That's quite a retort there, Rerun. Almost clever, if not a tad sophomoric.

1.) I get absolutely ZERO, NOTHING, NADA, KAPOOT from the group rips. No "extra discount" or free stuff from Steve. What ever discount everyone else gets, I get. I do it because I like to do it. Nothing more/nothing less.
2.) I talked with Steve last night about trying to do a rip. The only thing I could come up with were 81-83 Topps BB wax, 84 Donruss, 79 Topps, 84 Topps, 86 Topps, 89 Score & 98 Bowman Chrome, Bowman's Best and Topps Chrome FB along with 87/88 Bskt. That is about $3,900 worth of product. It's not feasible to do a group break for $3,900 when he is selling the stuff as soon as he gets it in. Hell, the 86 FB was gone before I sent my email. Typically we do around $10K at a time. Yeah, we could get it up to $10K with the junk wax and such but we would be buying like 500 boxes. It just doesn't make much sense. Time vs money.
3.) The days of the 1/month breaks are gone. Trust me, I as much as anyone would love to do a group break. I check Steve's site everyday looking........he is not finding the stuff anymore. That is just a fact. We are just going to have to be patient.
4.) If anyone else wants to organize a break then knock yourself out. Just call or email Steve and organize it. You won't hurt my feelings........honest.
5.) Aric - You have whined and cried for the last 12 months about how the group breaks are done but have NEVER stepped up to do one. Either put your big boy pants on and do one or shut the flip up. I feel like I am dealing with my 11 year old daughter when you go on your rants.
To all the guys that have supported me and the rips...............thanks. I really do appreciate it.

Yes, I second that!
I have no clue how this thread got so sideways....
I would be willing to do the group rip, not a problem.
Mark, did Steve say how many boxes of 84, 86, and 89 Score he had? My thinking is that if we do multiple boxes we might get closer to the 10K mark. So are you saying it's not worth it to Steve unless we're closer to 10K?
