Is my scanner hopeless?

I'm trying to make the change from pictures to scans for Ebay auctions. I've searched past posts on scanners and they were helpful. Looks like epson v30 or v300 are a great option.
The scanner I have now, purchased awhile back, is the HP Deskjet F4280.
So far every scan I try has the card looking kind of an "orange" color, especially faces.
I know there are much better scanners than this one, but is this scanner hopeless as far as high quality scans of cards?
Appreciate any input.

What software are you using to import the scan?

I'm importing into iPhoto. I can edit the pic but it doesn't help much, and I want the scan to be an accurate representation of the card.

<< <i>Until recently I had all in one printer/scanner. On recommendation from the board I ended up buying the Epson v37 which is the current updated model. I am glad I did there is a huge difference in scans between the two. You can see a lot more of the card and the holder. >>
I think I'm going to purchase one of those.
In the meantime, anyone else had experience with these producing an orange-like saturation in the picture?
It's the only way.
I tried my new all in one hp and it sucked. Epson got it right.
