How do I remove this personalized message on an autograph

Just bought this Pat Tillman autograph and want to remove the "To Steve" part.
How do I carefully do this?
What have you used in the past?

What is the picture made from?....if it's a glossy photo, it may be an easy task...If it's just paper or light cardboard stock, you may not be able to do anything.

You can probably just wipe it off in that case.

    Using what type of liquid?

The best way is to use dry erase pens over the personalization and then wipe them off with paper towels or tissues. But if it was signed years ago, that may no longer be an option. Test it on a glossy baseball card first. You will see what I mean.

acetone... nail polish remover...unscented. ive done it before... use a qtip to rub and remove and a clean qtip to remove what qtip 1 doesnt. thats a nice piece though. i would do a trial run.

Cut the autograph out along with the cards logo and hire the person on this forum who makes cards for cut autographs to make you a card for it.
  • Enjoy the autograph with the added dedication that only makes it easier to authenticate, leaving an original item to stay as it was signed, while simultaneously avoiding any complications from removal attempts? Removing a third of the item? Erasing? I'm speechless.

goo gone takes sharpie off w/o doing damage to many substrates.

    however, test first

I would try dry erase first.

    very nice piece.

I've used the Expo dry erase many times and haven't had any problems, as long as it's a glossy photo. Like others have said, just lightly go over the inscription and wipe it off with a tissue.
