The cost of going away and dealing with Ebay customers

So I left for Canada on Thursday night and all orders were shipped out.
Friday , I get a message through EBay from a guy who bought a PSA 10 card on EBay.
He said there was a light scratch on the holder and wanted $3.00 back.
Later that night I responded that I was out of the country and would address the situation when I got back Tuesday.
Well today I get hit with a neutral from him. Wow! This card was a PSA 10 2013 card that just came in from PSA!
The guy couldn't wait 1 more day? Very frustrating!

I mean, who has that much time in their life that they even care where their $2.50 purchase is at any given moment, much less checking the shipping status 4 times a day? It still doesn't really bother me that much, I actually find it amusing. But I have noticed a significant spike in unreasonable expectations and even more unreasonable responses when those expectations aren't met.

Agree with Lee that it's more comical than anything, but eBay has enabled buyers to be this way.

Whether or not the customer's request was reasonable, there's no excuse for making him wait 4 days for your decision.
You were out of the country? So what? You obviously had internet access or you wouldn't have been able to respond to his message or post here.
Bottom line: you handled the situation poorly.

Just what I expected from you Maurice.
When are you going to come out of the closet and put a name behind your posts?
I would love for you to out the buyer so we could all be saved from this nonsense in the future.
<< <i>I had a guy just today message me saying he didn't get his card today. I told the Einstein that there was no mail today and that I had sent him his tracking number last Saturday even though it was uploaded too. He writes back that he does not have the time to log on to check the tracking info, but he obviously has the time to send me 8 messages since last Thursday about he status of his card, which was the day he paid.

I'd like to see this clown buyer get outed also. This is the type of guy that when this sort of thing begins I'm always afraid he will become an even bigger issue.

He responded and asked him to wait a bit. Any reasonable person could see that he did nothing wrong here.

<< <i>The buyer contacted him Friday over wanting $3.00 for a scratched holder. He replied to the guy right away, but told him he would address the situation Tuesday. What could possibly take 4 days to figure out. Did he need to go home and consult the magic 8 ball to tell him what he should do. Whatever his reply was going to be, "addressing the situation" on Tuesday, was going to be the same thing he could have simply relied on Friday. You certainly had time to promote your purchases and coming website update. >>
Maybe Tom could have just made a quick decision, but he did respond quickly. Customer was asked if he could wait a couple more days, and could have responded that he was unwilling to wait instead of leaving neutral feedback when the transaction was not yet complete. Certainly could have waited to see if Tom would have just said "sure $3 is OK, I'll refund it" to avoid the hassle.
All over a "slight scratch" that 99% of people probably wouldn't even notice.
Please let us know this guys ebay ID. I am not interested in selling to people like this.
But on flip side I state a here day handling the on my listings. I sold a graded pack recently and the third business day following confirmed payment was actually today. Yesterday I refunded 5 bucks to the buyer since he's have to wait an extra couple days because of long weekend.
To each his own. But a point or two won't break the bank to try and keep things positive.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Now if the card arrives not as described or has a blatant defect that the scan did not show - well it's hard to find much sympathy there.
Both times I just called their bluff and offered a full refund if they returned the card. Both times, they backed off.

Since the buyer already left feedback, why hasn't the OP outed this guy so we can all block him?
