They should be private by default. If not, you can go to "interests you follow" on the home page, and just toggle from public to private.

Is this another instance of Ebay trying to fix something that isn't broken? Changing something that doesn't need to be changed, or has it always been set up like that? Now I have to check mine to make sure it's set on private. I had no idea about this. Thanks for bringing it up and pointing it out. Like someone mentioned above, anything anyone views or searches for should be private to begin with.
