The traveling BBCE box

Not a follow-up band to the Wilburys, but a story that I thought was entertaining enough to share.

My folks always give me a decent Christmas check, which is immediately donated to Steve. This year I bought a set and a couple of 50's graded singles I had been looking for. I thought I had changed my address on the website from my former Pasadena, CA address to my current Chicago address, but I had not. So after a week I email BBCE and find out the cards had been sent to my old condo in CA. The travel of this box has been impressive to follow:

Started at BBCE (Indiana) with un-told stops between there and...
Delivered in Pasadena, CA. After contact with a friend to pick it up, he informs me that he grabbed it right before he drove to...
Las Vegas, NV. It stayed in his trunk and took a trip to...
Hoover Dam, AZ. A few days later it was brought back to....
Pasadena, CA. My wife, who is finishing her Phd in So. Cal, had traveled back for classes and picked the box up from my friend. After determining that she couldn't carry it on to the plane (due to overpacking like she typically does) she gave it to a friend to mail. The friend, left last friday to travel by car to her parent's house in...
Salt Lake City, Utah, where she brought the box with her to mail it tomorrow to me in Chicago. Problem is, I'm expecting to be at my families house in Michigan, so I asked her to send it to...
Grand Haven, Michigan, where it will be transported back to Chicago, driving past BBCE, where it will have originated roughly 4 weeks earlier.

Good thing you didn't order a dozen eggs with that card order.
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Ordered off the sushi menu. Not sure what that will look like when I finally open it.

Hope this isn't a thread hijack, but a public service announcement:

I just had a similar thing happen with BBCE. Am sure I updated the address, but my vending box got shipped to my old address. After a few days and multiple trips to the PO (and my old place), I got it.

Word to the wise, double check the follow up emails after your purchase -- if you have moved at all in the past.

    Agreed.

Steve's got a guy named Mike who, it appears, handles the shipping. He's been really responsive and very friendly so far, which, I've appreciated.

  • I almost had this happen to me with BBCE involving a 1989 Score football wax box I bought. Luckily, I noticed what happened immediately and called them the next morning. They took care of it with no issue.
