1981 Topps Baseball Vending Rip (Disappointed)

Well being inspired with the other recent threads, I was all pumped to open my vending box this morning. However, it became fairly clear to me that it must have been searched. I mean not one single semi-star player in 500 cards? Plus a few were in the wrong position (i.e. upside down) so that isn't normal right? So I wasn't in the mood to do a play by play and just pretty much went through the cards all at once.

Any rate, after looking through many commons I hoped to salvage something out of my break!!! What are your thoughts on any of the cards below as being graders?

    I'm no expert, but that box sure doesn't display the pattern that vendings usually do, and the cards do look disturbed.

    I'm sorry , but I agree its looks like its been searched . I'm hardly the expert but I've look at 20 -30 vending boxes . I've had a few that were obviously searched .

    Of all the cards the Trevino and the Bomback look the most promising , but as many know , the 81's were poorly made and don't grade out well , as a whole .

    That really sucks. It definitely doesn't have that fresh vending box look to it.

    I agree the Mets look good and Sal Butera is nice as well. Are these all low pop commons or just the best centered ones you found?

    Collecting:
    Any unopened Baseball cello and rack packs and boxes from the 1970's and early 1980s.

    Thanks. The cards shown were really all I thought were potential graders.

    I stay away from vending boxes. You never know if they are searched.

    Patterning looks off in that box. Also in the two 81 boxes I have broken down recently every card is facing identical way. I have also pulled tons of stars so that box was definitely picked through, imo. Where did you get it from?


    Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

    I bought it recently from Ebay. Seller had a few more 81 vending that were sold so that kinda sucks for everyone else too.

    That does suck. (Was the seller "les1145"?) Vending is indeed risky and I tend to steer clear of it unless the boxes are from a solid source.

    On the bright side, some oif those cards you posted do look very sharp and beautifully centered, so all was not lost, as the searcher almost certainly, judging by the lack of stars, was looking for HOFers and probably ignoring the commons.

    Nope it was les1145. I should have just returned it when saw how crappy it was packaged and sent. But I was curious and anxious to rip. So overall not a huge deal and I do think a few of those cards I pictured are pretty sharp. I'll just be more careful in the future.

    Sorry to hear this.

    For what an 81T box is worth? It takes a real weasel to search it.

    How much did the seller charge? I'd still recommend contacting the seller and ask them if they looked at the "pattern" which is off IMO.

    $53 plus $11 shipping. So I don't think I spent that much.
