If offense was taken, y u will have to forgive my post of spoons as
1. I entered into the Matrix trilogy this weekend 2. It was a subtle attempt at an analogy of an opinion that I may hold for myself and thus wish others to see my view. 3. A dozen more quotes could have expressed the same idea, yet I felt using a spoon as the subject might diffuse a seemingly tense situation
In any case, my Precious Metal posts have been dwindling since the crash, and I am kinda feeling like I may want to keep my Palladium scraps to myself as this does not excite me.
What does is sharing joy in people cashing out some Paper to acquire beautiful heavy gold, Metric Silver, old poured bars, and one of the rarest Elements on Earth.
Zub,Nib, I swear you guys must be kindred spirits.
Nib always has something I want to buy. Zub is always posting a pic of something I would buy. I was eying those Geiger boxes too (along with the Armenia')
The Geiger line looks strong and on bar security too!
As Warren Buffett once commented, people dig up the gold...melt it down, bury it again, and then people are paid to stand around it guarding it. What purpose does it serve? It hedges against inflation...but why? I get the use in chemical/medical/industrial applications-there is a demand for just about every element on the periodic table I can think of...But in my opinion, precious metals are a bad asset to purchase right now...they are a bear asset. We are in a bull market.

Fine art, antiquities, diamonds and gems, rare books, precious metals, early comic books and baseball cards, numismatic coins, etc. etc. etc. They're valuable because humans place a value on them. You could say the same about truffles and caviar and 30-year old Macallan. Martians might find it puzzling, but we don't trade with Martians.

Natural forces of supply and demand are the best regulators on earth.
