PSA labels

Hi fellow collectors, I am new to this site and glad you all let me be a part of it. I have a question for you. I have been out of the hobby for some time and I am now getting back into it. I am purchasing a 1954 Topps Eddie Mathews PSA 9 (OC). The (OC) doesn't bother me a whole lot because my cards will never be for sale . The card has what looks like an old PSA label on it. I have never seen a label like this one before but would like some input to is it an actual old PSA label or does it look suspicious. Hopefully the pic loads and you can look at the card. Thanks for all your help.

It's fine. Just an old label.

PSA even has a picture of one of these old labels on their site (check out the PSA 10).

FYI an 9 oc negative qualifier is considered about a psa 7. They (psa) reduce the weighted value by 2 grades for qualifiers
in thier registry. Make sure you are spending about psa 7 $ on it....$100 to $140
Also some believe...maybe not correctly that an old label is before grading became a little stricter
and such a tad less valuable.

But always buy the card not the holder

    Nice card of a HOFer.

  • That doesn't deserve an o/c qualifier in my opinion. Maybe just a lower grade overall
    It never leaves you...
  • Thank you all for your time helping me out, it is greatly appreciated.

If reviewed that card may be a straight 8 in a 9OC wrapper. If you ever have a chance to stop by the PSA booth when they are at a show you may want to stop and see what they think. Either way, that's a beautiful card. image
