collectorsector.com

Anybody heard of this site? I noted that suddenly someone with this username jumped ahead of me in the Kershaw registry to double my completion percentage. Not a huge feat because I'm just starting to build that set, however, it seems sort of spammy. Every card says images on collectorsector.com. There are many-many cards registered in the set but only 8 Kershaw results. Is this a fake user to promote this website who is thereby messing up the registry? Also, they moved from nobody to 3rd in the Koufax registry. Legit or spam/scam?

The site is OK I guess.

My point in starting the thread was really to discuss whether or not that user ranked above me seemed legitimate. I can handle someone beating me, however, I questioned this because every card has no image and all of the comments refer to this other site for pictures, however, these pictures don't exist on that website. Don't see the advantage of hosting images on another site when the registry allows you to upload directly to it.

Seems like a stunt to promote the website, in my opinion and may not be a legitimate collector who is ranked in the registry.

It could very well be a real collector (promoting their website) because I think his collection amounts to 40 cards or less, not an unbelievable amount to have stashed and then unleashed at once.

  • Hello, my name is Ross Uitts and I am the founder of Collector Sector. I just wanted to answer the questions below directly: I am a legitimate collector and huge Dodgers fan and yes, I do own the current #2 Koufax Master Set and #1 Kershaw Master Set. I had never listed them on the PSA Registry prior to opening my new website, which launched a week ago (January 10). I had always wanted to but just never got around to it because I had been working on the website in my spare time for over a year.

I do have all of those Kershaw cards even though I hadn't posted all images on my own site yet--that is something I am going to take care of this weekend. I had originally just listed 7 or 8 of the ones I thought were most important.

As to the point about me stating that "Pics are on www.collectorsector.com" next to each card listed in the PSA Registry, I have since removed those statements because I see the point about how it seemed spammy and that is definitely not a message I want to convey.

I hope that clears up any confusion--if not, just ask and I'll be happy to answer! I am looking forward to being an active member here on the Collectors Universe forums!

  • New kid on the block, welcome to PSA. Way to show up making a statement on the registry. I'm from California and follow all of the teams of many sports. I dig Yasiel Puig and his competitive attitude. He was definitely the teams MVP last year. Before you talk about Kershaw, remember the spark started when Puig showed up. I digress, welcome to the boards!

  • 3BoyzTrading and Nate--thank you both for the warm welcome! You've got a nice Kershaw, collection, too Nate--you'll probably eventually surpass me as #1 so don't worry haha! The Kershaw set already contains more cards than the Koufax set and Kershaw (hopefully) still has plenty of playing time left so I'm sure the set will keep growing and will become even more exhausting to try and complete.

I love Puig and what he brings to the Dodgers--he definitely makes Kershaw's job easier! Really looking forward to seeing if Haren can return to form and also if they sign Tanaka.
