I picked up 3 packs last week since they were from the Topps' vault. I agree, the price has moved a lot on 77's in recent months. I guess the same can be said with most 1970's unopened. 1979 wax packs have went from $20 to $30 per pack rather quickly.

I thought this would have been a great time to auction my Registry set of 77's.

But, last month it barely brought in what VCP listed it at. And that was 2012's #1 set, listed through PWCC auctions.

I'd say I am more puzzled than I am disappointed. Especially when I read items like in this thread.

The drivers for vintage unopened product do not necessarily correlate to graded cards. Most of the unopened product is not being ripped to begin with and pop reports for graded cards can only rise while unopened product gets scarcer. I do think that major HOFers and stars will retain their value over time, though.

    Nick,
Sorry I believe I may have missed your setbreak...the danger is that the number of PSA set-builders is quite narrow for each year. You have to catch several at the right time. On many occasions sellers have shot me an email and alerted me to a setbreak and I will almost always "go shopping" for upgrades. 77 PSA 9s and 10s really do not come up for auction very often so many people just don't continue to check daily, weekly or even monthly. Most are now sold via BIN
