40/40 Club: Has there ever been a clean member?

I was just thinking the other day about this. I remember Canseco was the first, and it was a big deal at the time. Then Bonds did it. Then Arod. I don't follow baseball quite as closely as I used to. Has anyone else accomplished this?

Looks like Soriano is the only possible candidate. In this era when even batboys are suspect, I will let the more knowledgeable comment on Alfonso.

It's sad when the steroid boys break the records. The guys who were clean and hold the "true" records don't get the credit they should.

Just to see where the clean guys "deserve" to be, I would like to see how the record books would look if you took out the cheaters record breaking seasons. I wonder who would then be seen as the great ones from about 1988-2004.

I have always wondered the same thing. I would love to know which players' status would be elevated substantially by existing in a world without cheating. There are HOF caliber players who will never be considered, ironically, even by those who state that they will never vote for a cheater. Wouldn't the logical next step of that thought process be to vote for approximately the same amount of "non-cheaters" to gain induction?

Soriano is clean? I wouldnt bet much on that, lol. Even his listed age is suspect.

Right, because players only started looking to get ahead or 'cheat' in the modern era. I mean players from the 50s and 60s would *never* think of using substances like greenies to get ahead.

Or you could wake up to the reality of baseball players have been looking to get a leg up throughout all of baseball history and realize what the PED era players did was no different from any other era.
