A "Wacked Out Merc Collector"...Thats Me !!

FairlanemanFairlaneman Posts: 10,426 ✭✭✭✭✭
Have Totally lost all Sense and For Sure have No Common Sense when it comes to the Pursuit of Adolph's Little Ladies.
Here is why I say this. Had a Great Looking 1919S NGC Graded Merc and Sold it last week to acquire a PCGS 63 coin that I found. Not real bad doing that as I finally got a 19S into My set and the 63 coin is allright.
Well as of 30 Minutes ago I sold the PCGS 63 coin to acquire a PCGS 64 Coin that showed up on a Popular Web Site. You Guessed It, Lost My Fanny on the 63 Coin, well Maybe just Part of the Fanny. I sure hope the Rest of You have More Common Sense and Respect for a Dollar than I do.
        Sincerely: Wacked Out Ken

            Ken:

I hate to tell you this, but the ONLY possible cure is cold turkey. You must remove ALL temptation from being near. So, on your doctor's orders (and I do have a PhD and so I am a doctor, albeit not medicine) here's what I prescribe: Send all the dimes to others. Send 1 to Pat so he doesn't gripe. Send none to Spooly--just send him a fishing weight, he'll never know the difference. For 1 of the Mercs, flip a coin (not a Merc) to see which of the other collectors get it. Then, ignore that result and send it to me, along with all the other remaining dimes. In fact, forget Pat--send all the dimes to me. Once you carry this out, you'll feel immensely better.

          • One way you could quit is by switching to a better series. Lincoln cents, for example.

            1. Take highest graded toned Merc in collection, send to me.
            2. Take second highest graded Merc in collection, set aside.
            3. Sell all other Merc dimes.
            4. Send washer to Spooly, he'll think it's a holed Merc.
            5. Take proceeds and buy other kinds of coins.

You are now a Type collector.

Here's a better idea. Just show your wife a copy of all your invoices. That will solve the problem immediately. If you're not married, get married and then follow the above steps.image

            Greg,

He does that and I have to find another Merc collector to bait, cause we won't be hearing from him any more.

Or you can do it the way I did it. I started with the 1916-D, 1945-P, and 1945-S micro-s dimes in superb gem mint state FB and the 1942/1 dime in gem mint state (nonFB) and then you are too financially exhausted to do anything else. The perfect cure. <p>
I am down to looking at junk boxes of AU mercury dimes looking for everything else.
