...than for Green Bay today?

Easy win for the Packers.

I sprayed a bit of repellent on this thread to keep that pesky 1985fan away.

Heading to the game in a few hours. not looking forward to sitting on metal benches in this cold. I was at the NFC championship game in 2007 which was -2 and that was awful, this will be
    much colder. Wish me luck

going to the game didn't sound like a bad idea last week when the forecast was for 20 degrees, now -20, that is a different story. Definitely no tailgating for me today.
plan to have the inlaws drop us off a block or two away about 30 minutes before kickoff. On the up side no problem keeping the beer cold, however, if you do not
drink it fast enough it freezes. There still will be people without their shirts. Probably will not be as cold as the ice bowl, but if the game was tomorrow it would be by far the coldest game, calling for -60+ wind chills and air temps -20-30 Monday and Tuesday. Why do I live here again

  • Bring some kind of seat cushion, or blanket.

Seriously though, this is the kind of weather that if any part of your body is exposed for more than 30 minutes, you're looking at easy frostbite.
I expect to see lots of people in ski masks and even sunglasses to protect the eyes.

I wouldn't be surprised to see many empty seats after half time, or even before.

Forget the beer, Brandy is in order.
  • The Bengal fans luck out.
Temperatures this afternoon will be 43 degrees with some rain.
Tonight it's going to be 2 above.

Flying into Chicago in January 1988, I had the good fortune to sit across the aisle from Mitch Albom. He was covering the Bears-Redskins game for the Detroit Free Press. Quite a friendly and outgoing fellow, we talked sports for about 20 minutes.

Though I was travelling on business, I hinted that I would love to get into the game (turned out to be Walter Payton's last).

Glad that Mitch did not work any magic to get me a ticket as it was a zero degree day and I would have frozen to death in my rather light attire.

Green Bay has not had the same mystique as a home team in recent years.

Nothing. Haven't bet on sports* since my last wager with the Duck, in Detroit in 1994.

*Have been to the Quarter horses a half dozen times since then but no team sports betting.

Wager has been placed. To quote Arnie Spanier, "Don't want the points, Don't need the points, I'll take the points" Green Bay +3.

Edit to change minus to plus.

Easy win for the packers? Hilarious. Niners win going away. Lets not forget Aaron Rodgers is only a week back. Niners defense will impose their will and take this by 7.

If Packers lose the game, I will put in my sigline that "1985fan was right" and leave it until the Superbowl.

Will you do the same with my name if Packers win?

Be thankful. His first perma-bammed alias was notorious for welching out of lost wagers unless you removed any and all possible semantics.

Please be a bit more transparent, Stown. Who are you accusing of being a welch?

Did you think I was insinuating you? Sorry, not my intention at all. If you can access the advanced search, just look up axtel and welch. Some may have poofed but I'm positive you'll find one.

No need for the signature line, I didn't agree to the bet as I didn't see it until after the game. As far as welchers go, I believe stown and his often confused and even more often wrong memory is thinking of joestalin.

Just off the top of my head he was for the guaranteed before being against it, not posting for a week miraculously became only not posting on the sports talk forum, and then disappeared after Bush didn't get a certain number of touches.

Those had absolutely, positively nothing to do with joey. Facts.
