OT: Anybody in the path of the big storm coming through the Midwest?

I live in Indianapolis and it's been nothing but mass panic here. Long lines at the grocery and empty shelves. Anyone else hunkering down for the next week?

We just got almost 2 feet here in Nothern Massachusetts. Temps this morning were -4 degress. Me and the kid went out wearing just sweatshirts. No big deal up here, just another day.

Here in Wisconsin it is not the snow. Waiting on the -50 degree wind chill that starts tomorrow evening. Tomorrow's low temp is -21.

Should be a blast. Monday's high temp is expected to be -13 with 22 mph winds. I guess that is how you get to -50 wind chill.

In nashville waiting on our 1-3" of snow. We seem to always be on the temperature bubble when it comes to snow.

Not looking forward to single digit high temps.

    Thanks,

Not in the MW or even in a cold area. People where i'm at(S. Carolina) dress like Nanook of the North when it gets down to 45. While I keep wearing the shorts and t shirts. Love this kind of weather, reminds me of my days at Appalachian State. But 90% of our population won't go outdoors here Monday/Tuesday when highs will be in the 30's/lows in the upper teens. image

  • Northwest Ohio here....snow will be plenty but the cold will be far worse. -17 for Monday's low. We haven't seen it that cold here for many years.

That SF at GB game tomorropw late afternoon is going to be brutal. Reminds me of that SD-Cin playoff game in early 80s.

Exactly! I'm in the Pinckney area, and 4" sounds about right for a 6-12" prediction.

Actually heading to the GB / SF game tomorrow. Looks like it may be a tad bit chilly. I have to keep my ticket so I can "prove" I was at Ice Bowl 2. Should be fun......hoping Rodgers can get it done.

I'm in Canton, OH. Predicting 4-6 inches of snow and -14 for a low on Monday. We haven't seen that kind of cold in nearly 20 years. Grocery store wasn't bad but the gas station was pretty full.

The NWS bumped that up to 4-8 in the evening update.

I have a flight from Akron-Canton to Oklahoma City, thru Atlanta Monday at 5:30pm. Based on the latest
NWS products, the heaviest snow will be from 5pm to midnight Sunday. I'm hoping I can make it out. Since
I'm a meteorologist, I have access to a bunch of info.

Still waiting on a mid-November submission.

I live in Rockford, Illinois, along the Wisconsin boarder 100 miles west of Chicago. New years eve/day we received 8 inches of snow then it dipped to -18. Couldn't shovel anything in that. Had to work. Finally caught a break the next day temps were up to somewhat decent temps, but it was cold enough to have to come in from the wind at 25 MPH every 20 minutes from shoveling. I finally gave up.

Today temps got up to 29 degrees, but of course, we received yet again 4 more inches of snow. During the snow storm I went and bought new blades for my car. Groceries, which the grocery store was looking really bare in the afternoon today, and got a full tank of gas. The gas station was packed with people gassing up for the sub zero temps coming. We came home after all of that and spent 1.5 hrs removing the rest of the snow, which at this time finally stopped coming down.

They are predicting 61hrs of temps in a row of under 0 for Northern Illinois. Monday is supposed to have a high of -12 and a low of -20 with wind chills of -50 to -60 depending on the wind of course.

    Be safe everyone.

    Paul.

P.S. I'm looking forward to spring training. That will mean no more snow and warm weather. image

  • In St Louis, preparing for Snowmaggedon. Calling for 6-12"...translation 1-2" actual. Supposed to all come overnight so I guess we will wake and see in the morning

Miami, Florida was in the upper 80's the other day, when International Falls, Minnesota was -34. Now that is what I call a severe Temperature differential!

Mid Michigan here. Just went out and ran the snow blower even though it is still snowing. I had to do some now because my little snow blower can't handle if the snow is too deep. I would guess at least 6" at this point, and it is still snowing like crazy.

  • We ended up with probably around 7"-9" of snow... according to the weather radar that's going to be it. Driveway is clear, plows are out.. work as usual in the morning.

We got 10-12 inches here in the Indy area, with -10 temperatures. Most areas have "no travel" warnings in place. No work for me today.

  • Afternoon,

You guys are all a bunch of Namby Pamby's, we've had at least 18-20 FEET, yes FEET, we just had another foot last Saturday, here in the central Rocky Mountains of Colorado (Home Elevation 6800 Ft., Work 8500-11000 Ft.) and I haven't seen my walk or driveway since the end of October. And its been the most brutally cold its been in decades, we've had weeks on end where it hasn't climbed much over Zero for days, and lots and lots of days of -10 to -20.

Sheeze !!!!!..............................weather you guys are crying about, we're out playing in in shorts and T-shirts!!!image

Wish I could agree with ya but my son is home from college and daughter from high school.......those days are long gone.....but here in Parma Ohio its already -5 and its supposed to go down to -15 tonight. haven't seen these type temps since early 90's. This doesn't compare though to what happened here in the late 70's when we had 28 days below 0 one year and record snows another........this is piece of cake compared to that.

  • -24 for most of the day here in Eau Claire WI. That is not considering the windchill. Pretty awesome going to meetings today.

Heading back to Buffalo tomorrow, wondering if I'm going to get delayed and just sit around for hours at Hartsfield-Jackson because of all the cancellations. Then conveniently in a couple of weeks I have a buying trip to Florida.

    Reed,

You better think twice about Buffalo, New York! They are expecting 3-5 feet, yes that is feet not inches of lake effect snow is expected by weeks end (Next 24-48hrs)

    Good luck with that trip!

    Paul.

    Later, Paul.
