Ebay change in payment????WTF are they doing

I got an EMAIL the other day that buyers have to pay instantly when doing BIN's. This is coming in like a week or so. I don't want this as a seller. How could you possibly combine shipping? Plus each time they pay PAYPAL....doesn't PAYPAL get some additional fee? Did anyone else know this?

Also, can I adjust an invoice that was already sent? Example....buyer buys 2 cards last night and I combine shipping on an invoice. He doesn't pay right away...which is okay and buys another card tonight. Can't I combine them all so that he makes 1 payment and I just have 1 package to ship?

Thank you in advance for the help and Happy New Year.

I'm going to try UniSquare for BINs.

    Thanks,

Yes, you can manually revise shipping for multiple auctions when you send invoice. As far as I know, it's the seller who determines whether immediate payment is required for a BIN. I have not received any email stating otherwise. Can you post the one you received?

Hello Grote. I can't find the email; but I saw it in the last couple of days. It talked about how you would have to have combined shipping discounts already set up for multiple auctions....I said to myself.. OMG.

I don't see where I can manually change an invoice that was already sent....I don't know how to link all three cards. Plus all this has to be PAYPAL compliant.

When any one auction ends and a buyer has purchased multiple items, when you click on the "send invoice" link, you should be able to overtype the cumulative shipping total of all auctions with the discounted shipping cost and send the invoice to the buyer.

I'll believe it when I see this email. Ebay currently requires all of the following things (below) in order to require immediate payment, so I doubt they would make such a drastic change so quickly. Plus, why didn't anyone else get this email, and why is no one talking about it on the ebay message boards?

Have an eBay seller account in good standing.
Have a PayPal Premier or PayPal Business account when you list your item. Find out more about upgrading your PayPal account.
Specify a Buy It Now price of no more than $10,000.
Specify shipping costs or offer free shipping when you list your item.
Include all other related costs, such as taxes, so your buyer knows exactly how much to pay.

Thanks Grote. Just figured it out. I've combined invoices many times...just never after I already sent an invoice the day before. I've never had to do it; but the option is there. I hope I was having a nightmare about the Immediate pmt; but I don't think so.

mlbfan2....trust me, I hope I read something wrong. I did go to GOOGLE and type in the question about the IMM PMT and there does seem to be some chatter and one of the blogs I read....I hope not.

This has been happening to me sporadically over the last year. There is no way of knowing how often it happens as I doubt a high percentage of people are bothering to let me know about it. I've been assured by Ebay on more than 1 occasion that the problem has been fixed only to have it occur again. The only advice I can give you is when you phone in and complain about it make sure you get a ticket number and call back every day with that ticket number to see if it's fixed yet. I was on the phone with them for an hour slowly moving up the food chain. I had a supervisor offer me a $50 gift card as an apology. I told him that was not nearly enough and he said a manager would be calling me tomorrow to talk me down. I am not holding my breath.

They've admitted there is a glitch and that others have called in with the same issue.

Edited to try and make clear what I am talking about: Some of my customers are being asked to pay after buying each item from me even though I do not have any of my listings set up to require immediate payment. I don't know how often it happens, it is not all the time but I have been getting the odd complaint from potential customers for the last year.

I've experienced it as a buyer several times. One was a huge seller who told me they didn't want it either but were stuck with it. I have used the shopping cart to get around it a couple of times. Kruk cards had it set up to discount shipping as items were added for many (not all) items, but in the shopping cart.

    bigdcards,

That was basically the email what you just wrote...it stated folks will have to start to use the shopping cart and sellers will have to set up the automatic discounts...etc. I was like...oh crap.

One of my better customers was complaining to me about this. I had no idea what he was talking about. He will buy 20-25 cards at a time from me as a buy it now but would pay within a week. Now he says, he has to pay for each 1 right away.... this is crazy! I don't mind waiting a week for payment especially when a guy is buying that much

  • In the past, sellers had the option of doing this on BINs so it's going to be mandatory now? I hope not, but I guess there's always refunds to cover the difference but that's a hassle too.

Yeah I am not a fan of this either, I take a lot of time with some certain buyers. Lame.

You shouldn't have to worry about combining shipping on multiple BIN purchases because all your BINS should already have free shipping added in to the listed price. So if you're going to charge $3 to $5 shipping just add it to the BIN price of each card. When people pay for each item separately you will lose the 30 cent PayPal transaction fee, but you more than make up for it doubling up on the $3 to $5. When generating a shipping label you just combine all purchases into one shipment and one tracking number and it protects you against delivery issues on all items. Be sure to add signature confirmation when total hits $250.

Buyers can click "add to cart" and purchase a bunch of things that way but someone else could buy something if they don't pay for everything quick enough.

It happens to me at times also. What a pain.

  • Everyone relax. You don't have to pay immed when the shippin isn't yet combined formmultiple bins. Get the invoice and just don't pay, complete this step. The seller, usually someone who has sold mult cards, will receive the invoice and adjust the shipping. Vs refunding the difference. You may wantnto include a note stating ur waiting for the combined shipping. Just did it last week. Went very smoothly.

That works really well for all the guys selling 99 cent cards (who often do $3 shipping for the first one and free or 25 to 50 cent shipping for all others).

  • As a seller I do combine shipping and because I read this thread I started looking around in eBay. If you bring up a BIN listing you have, at the top left there is a list of 3 hyperlinks. One is Creat Shipping Discounts. If you click it you can set up combined shipping. I just set it up on my listings so i'm not positive how it will work but fingers crossed this will automatically do what I have been doing by hand for the last several years.
