Shorter Type Set Names

It's very apparent we need some shorter type sets names that follow a simple scheme. Then we can know what set people are talking about without using half a line to spell it out. Of course, imagine answerinbg all the new people when they ask what is "..."

Perhaps something like Start Year--Strike Type--# coins. Would people recognize these? Could people remember them? Or should I hang it up?

  • That is a great thought. The names should be shorter. However combos of letters and numbers don't do it for me. First I think there should be fewer sets. I've been calling them 20'th mixed, proof or circulating strike. I haven't been talking much about gold but there are too many sets there. I like what dabigkahuna calls his complete type set: The mega big time set or something like that image.

Of course calling these sets 20'th Century bothers me, but I'm not buying any coins dated 1900 so my set really is all in the 20'th Century image

A majority of Typists have both the variety and non-variety sets listed, so I would just refer to them as 20th Mixed, CS, or PR, or Modern Mixed, CS, or PR.
