Hey Stone, A board game and history you might enjoy.

Stone, I know you appreciate board games so I wanted to share this one with you.
When I was a young boy my grandmother(Ma-Maw) bought me this game at a local Hills in KY. It came with Topps cards, was a game and Pete Rose was included so it was the triple threat in my world. I played the game so much with my older brother/friends. I'm pretty sure it was the last gift my grandmother(Ma-Maw) ever gave me. She passed away the same year. The game got beaten up and sold at some point in my youth. It always bothered me I didn't own it anymore. When she passed away my world took a pretty big hit. She was nothing but kind and loving towards us. I believe if you have grandchildren that miss you over a quarter century after you're gone it is a job well done.
So in the past year, after seeing some of your board games a light bulb went off and I went on the hunt.
This is what I came up with! It is new in the box so I haven't had the heart to break it open. However, I may pick one up opened and play one last game with my twins.

It is one of my most prized possessions.

Your story reminds me of my quest to pick up the board game Risk I enjoyed so much as a kid. Nothing like world domination for an 8 year old. I was lucky enough to find the exact variation (can't believe how many there are) that I played as a kid and now play it with mine. Now they are into world domination as well.

Very sincere and poignant account Nathan. Thanx for sharing.
The 1984 MB Championship Baseball Game was very popular to both game player/collectors and card collectors.
I have a factory sealed copy myself.
Every game I collect, potentially, has a story behind it.
When we collect - whether it be cards or games, e.g. - we are custodians of history - preservers of the past - lest we forget - and that would be a tragedy.
One of my grandma and card memories in the latter days of her life: she would help me do anything so I would buy penny savers and she would go thru my monster boxes and sleeve them. She loved doing this. Geez, this brought tears to my eyes just typing this. I miss her more than I thought.
Thanks,
David (LD_Ferg)

Great story. We ought to get together some time and grab a beer. I live in Murfreesboro. My first full box of football was 1985.

Sounds good. I'd enjoy getting to know a local board member. I'm in Nashville.

Don't let him anywhere near any unopened 1981 Nathan.
Besides living close together, it looks like both your Grandmas did a great job.
