Did you ever stop collecting a player after he changed teams?

For me it was Jerry Rice - I had, at one time, virtually every Jerry Rice card ever made. Once he left the 49'ers, I never bought another card. Still have hundreds of his cards, but sold a lot of the good ones.
I was thinking that there has to be a bunch of Yankee fans out there stuck with Robinson Cano cards that will now, in all likelyhood, be less desireable and drop in value.
I guess the allure and bennies of being a lifelong member of a team are now totally overshadowed by the big money contracts. I will tell you this, even with all the money, Cano will regret not retiring as a Yankee and becoming part of thier storied history.

When I was younger, I collected the local teams (Miami Dolphins). If a player was no longer on the team I wouldn't pay much attention to them. But I don't think that I was collecting a player that changed teams that really mattered to me. I collected Marino (obviously), so if he went to Minnesota I don't think I would have boycotted his cards like I'm sure some Cleveland/Lebron fans.

As I got back into collecting though I got his Donruss card in a 9, and two really awesome signed rookie cards. If the price is right I would still get a few more of his better known cards.
