Second time these have gone b/o. I think you are correct tho, this may likely be the lowest burnished W yet.

I just got my set last week. Its a nice set and a better deal than buying the single MS ASE W.

I ordered a few about 7 pm. Is it likely the order will be filled?

Pardon my ignorance, what does 'going dark' refer to?

I'm assuming we're discussing this set?

I ordered a few a couple of days ago and they shipped on the same day....placed another order today and they are backordered. Probably toast....

I am surprised at the prices the 2012 sets bring on Ebay..........$90-$100 per set

What is driving those 2012 prices??

    BigABigA Posts: 2,715 ✭✭✭✭
Only 28k minted and the 2012 W ended at 238k total minted including this set....this year will probably be less than that

I just looked at my order from 12-26-13

Looks like I got the last confirmed sets and the first backordered sets at the same time!

Still not a much of a premium for the single 2012 ASW W raw on ebay. May take several years, but the sales seem to be going downhill. I think the 100% premium the mint charges for these is turning off collectors. The premiums were never that high.

Its funny -a 2012 silver proof set is selling for stupid money, but the lowest mintage W ASE doesn't command the premium.

Lets hope this time its different.

I ordered two last night as well. Said Backordered to 1/11/14. We'll see. These sets are a great deal, I think.

It seems that whenever I order an existing "backordered" item it always disappears and my order gets poofed. I have 4 on "backorder"

Since it looks like I've got the absolute first BO I'll let you know if I get any of the sets.

No, it's not the collector coin with the W mintmark. The (W), note parenthesis, on the label is your first clue.

Here's a 2012W that seemed to do pretty good

    LINK

It sold for $3,000 as some sort of error?? Looks like Machine doubling to me. Was this a legit error?

I've got a 5oz. puck with more obvious "doubling" than that "triple strike"

Maybe there will be a special label like "first back ordered strike"? image I have two sets on order also. Will be interesting to see if they keep bumping back the ship dates like they did on the 2013 Silver Proof sets.

I sold my 2012's for stoooopid money, while they were still on sale at the mint! If this keeps up, it could be the only bargain the mint offers us that is flippable for a strong profit.
    I'll come up with something.

What is going on with these sets . They have been on backorder for 2 weeks. Anybody getting their orders filled?

I think the way this goes is they stay on backorder for a long time, then suddenly they're "sold out".

    still waiting

for something like this, if you got your order in, I'm guessing with 1/20/2014 coming up that everyone who ordered will be getting it soon.

it's not totally out of the question that some backorders may get cancelled instead, but I'm thinking (hoping) not this time.

There probably are more coming. The other 2 items that were on backorder for a long time came back available. The clad general halves were on backorder for a couple of weeks and came back for sale in December. The mint uncirculated set was on backorder for about 2 weeks and is back available. The norm for most other coins has been to go on backorder for 3 or 4 days and then the sold out sign has been posted. Thanks

My credit card has now been charged, so my sets should ship early next week.

They are still listed for sale, I assume however many they have left will be the last batch.

Oh great. Mine are supposed to be here tomorrow. I hate doing returns with them. Pain in the hoohoo. Plus, they like to charge you for the replacements before they refund you the money from the first sets. They wont just swap them out. That was my experience with the 2013 Silver Proof Sets last spring.

Mine showed up today and fortunately, my SAE's are fine. No spots or dings of any significance. I will say the packaging is sub-par. Several of the coin capsules were not even close to being pushed together all the way so I would recommend that you check them out and make sure the two halves are seated together. Also, it would have been nice if they would have raised the capsules to the Presidential dollars up a little higher in the display so the side lettering could be read. Oh well. Can't have everything. All in all ok.

You can return individual sets without having to return the whole order. You cannot return part of a set, but you can return part of an order.

On the return form there is a blank for "quantity" being returned. They will even pay your return postage if you go to the trouble to copy your postage receipts and write a cover letter and mail it in seperately.

The 2014 W ASE's are now for sale on the US Mint's website. Maybe the 2013 W ASE's will get pulled off the website.
