<< <i>I issued refund thru Paypal for the wrong item ....do I have any recourse to get my money back? >>
I think the odds are in your favor that it's an honest buyer and that the person just pays. We have to guard against all the scamers so much that we forget most people are honest.

I would just message the person you refunded by mistake and explain the situation. I would have a hard time believing they would not make it right.
Ya, hopefully he is honest. I once had something sent to me from a seller I had bought from. He asked me to send it back and I told him I would just forward it on to his buyer. I did and I was refunded the postage plus a couple of bucks. I didn't even ask for payment and I shouldn't of had too. Hopefully, he will take the time to check his account and not just think you're a scammer. You might want to make sure you send the email through ebay as well as your personal email. Good luck.

Interesting take on buyers. I know there are plenty of fraudulent buyers and sellers, but a buyer who paid in the first place w/o any issue and who gets a unwarranted refund would probably make it right. At least that would be my first assumption.
<< <i>Unfortunately, no. Hopefully you have an honest buyer...most likely not. Hopefully it wasn't much.[/q
If it were me, i'd reach out to the buyer to see if they noticed the refund and then ask them to repay.

Not sure if this still holds true, at one time if the buyer paid with a CC, he/she may not see the refund in their balance. I'm sure they will see the email though. Good Luck Claude.
I had a buyer overseas (I want to say in the Philippines), who said he didn't receive the item after almost a month. I replied if he could give the item 30 days and if still not received I will refund, the buyer said no problem. A week or so later the buyer again contacted me with the same issue and I refunded his money. Another week or so later the buyer contacted me that he just received the item and sent payment.
The honest buyers are the majority we just don't make a big deal or start threads about all the great, no problem transactions we have.
I did this a couple years ago because two cards ended on the same day for the exact same amount and when one of the buyers asked for a return I issued a refund to the wrong buyer threw PayPal. Unfortunately they never sent the money back.
I accidentally sent a gift payment to the wrong person a month or so ago. Was trying to send money to a friend and the PayPal web form changed the recipient on me without me noticing. I immediately contacted PayPal and they told me to contact the person and have them refund me. It was a guy I'd bought from before. I contacted the guy and he didn't respond. I got in touch with PayPal and opened a claim. They contacted the seller but the idiots opened the claim as an item not received claim, despite me repeatedly saying that wasn't the issue. Anyway, the guy responded with a delivery confirmation number and PayPal closed the claim in the other guy's favor. Never mind that this wasn't about an item at all. I called PayPal and got someone with a clue and they actually refunded me the money I was owed.
Hopefully your situation works out more easily than mine.

Why ? Root cause must always be solved and permanently fixed - the secondary fallout won't actually exist ever again that. Why did you do that ?
Hopefully your situation works out more easily than mine.
