Question For eBay Sellers

Hi all,

I just received my 149-card sub back from PSA and am getting ready to being the insane scanning process and have a question for the gang:

I've done this both ways, but what are your thoughts about scanning just the front of a PSA slabbed card vs. scanning both the front and back? Do you think it makes much of a difference as far as price realized?

Thanks ahead of time,

Mike

Front/Back is preferred by most buyers but sometimes I know I don't have the time if its 100+ cards being listed. I would try and scan the front back of the highest $ cards you plan on selling and offer returns for one sided scanned cards.

Cards worth over $50.00 (?) scan both sides. On anything of lesser value, a short description should be good enough.

I scan the front and welcome requests for a back scan. If anyone requests it, I'll just add it to the auction.

For cards under $100, I typically just scan the front unless there is a condition issue, serial number, or anything else of interest on the back.

  • Thank you, everyone. That is extremely helpful.

  • I always scan both sides regardless of card value. It probably doesn't make much difference for price realized, but I think that it results in more customer satisfaction. I still point out defects such as surface creasing that may not be obvious from the scans.

If you have any items that are a variation where the back scan would increase interest I would do that for all price points.

Depends. On a small order, it is feasible. Getting 1,700 cards back from psa in a week, as a solo seller, just not possible to scan that many. I'll always add one on request, but unless it is a higher dollar card, it is front only with an invite to request a specific back.

It does occasionally cost a sale, but its a business decision.

Excellent point, thank you. I did get back a near set of 1996 Leaf Steel Silver promos and will now scan the backs as well, since they all have "PROMOTIONAL" stamped on the backs.

  • Always include a back scan. Ask yourself - would you buy this card without a back scan? It only takes a couple of minutes and it will increase the number of bids. Plus, why do I have to email a seller and ask for a scan? I just move on to another auction.
