Breaking a 1989 Fleer baseball wax FF case!

2 boxes in.... 2 for 2 on the big 3! The Randy Johnson is "Ad partially obscured version"

I hope the centering runs the same throughout!

    Great start Tom!

How are the corners - I've never opened any 89F - tho I do have a factory set.

I forgot how many - but I know there's a load of variations.

Corners are fine. I am more concerned with centering with this stuff

Forgot to say, the Johnson Marlboro in the 3rd box was o/c image

What is the rank in scarcity of each of the Johnson variations?
  • tsalems1tsalems1 Posts: 3,455 ✭✭✭✭
I wouldn't call any of them scarce but the Marlboro Ad is probably the one most in demand

I am working on the rest of the boxes. I have opened 15 up to this point.

    1 thing I have noticed...

All 3 versions of the Randy Johnson have been pulled out of this case

    Marlboro Ad
    Ad partially blocked
    Blacked out

  • Ad partially obscured has recognized red and green tint variations. I know Beckett will label them as such but not sure about PSA.

Isn't there a valuable Jeff Treadway Target variation?

Yes, I did pull a couple other variations. 1 looks like red tint.
Also the degree in which you can read the Marlboro Ad varies

This is the Treadway variation. I've always liked his cards because I played ball with his 2 older brothers.

Those are very nicely centered Tom. Congrats on the hits!!!

I must have ripped tons of them back in 89. At least I know those weren't unopened worthy even back then. image
