1989 Donruss Rookies Set - Underrated?

Opened up a set of these last night. I forgot this thing has some star power and some fun cards for 80's collectors as well. I even like the design and the box!

Here are some highlights:

RC's

Griffey Jr
R. Johnson
G. Sheffield
J. Abbott
Flash Gordon
O. Vizquel
D. Bichette
S. Finley
Kenny Rogers
Joe Girardi
Deion Sanders
Sandy Alomar Jr

Edgar Martinez which I believe qualifies as 2nd year; Gregg Jefferies too; Cubs busts Jerome Walton and Dwight Smith

Mini Spahn puzzle is cool too.

As an aside, when you are at shows and come across one dollar box set crates (I see them all the time at Chantilly), scan the Donruss Rookies carefully. I often find 1987 and 1989 boxes in there.

Kiss me once, shame on you.
Kiss me twice.....let's party.

Most of these players have cards in the regular set, which would make them more valuable??

I thought the "Rookies" boxed sets were more limited than the regular cards?!?!?!?!?

    More popular=more valuable?

Always regretted the lack of a Smoltz card in this set.

I always thought these were tough. I would add the Baseball's Best to that list as well.

    Just over-produced.

I have many favorites from '89.

Also, I couldn't believe - at the time - how great 89UD looked!

I opened a lot of 89D - and I can't believe how much of it was dinged right out of the packs.
